Dont worry, I was just joking. Read the thread of the last basho und you will understand. ;-) Edit I think in last bashos thread it was even said he was gonna be the next Yokozuna as a joke, so maybe I just made a nonsensical jokje.

The real shock today is Gagamarus amazing Ozeki run fromn last tournament came to an end. On a serious note, I had faith in Sadanoumi beating Teruinofuji, Sadanoumi has great speed and technique and if a big man takes him lightly, he might land out of the doyho.. But I would have never guessed that Ichinojo could beat Hakuho. Seems that he went in with a good game plan. So that was for the treatment he got during practice. He should really try and become Ozeki fast, because after this Hakuho probably feels even less love for his junior. Some bad butsugari keiko might be incoming.
-
Hopefully Ichinojo will get it a bit together at one point. He really should be under 200 kilo. Can't be good for his health.
-
He hasn't missed much. ;-) You wanna pick a fight?! (Laughing...) I love Naruto, for the most part at least.

The Kyokai is a lot of people, not just what's publicly presented through the rijikai. And everyone he may have had issues with is long gone - the guys running the ship for the last couple of decades are pretty much his contemporaries from back then. Thank you, that makes a lot of sense^^

He isn't for nearly 10 years anymore^^ I don't understand why, though, he was pretty good. Could have had a future in the bussines. But who knows what is going on in the wrestling bussines in japan. So much secret stuff going on. And even the stuff that is known nobody outside japan knows, since the Internet wrestling community has no dedicated translators like the guys we have here, which makes me really appreciate them big time^^

I don't know about that. Pretty sure the initial coaching in puroresu is no less harsh than in Ozumo, and even though it's "fake fighting", I don't think the physical/athletic requirements are any less, there's just a different focus. And of course it's a performance art and not that many people are extroverted enough to thrive doing something like that - and that might be even more true for long-time rikishi who've spent years cultivating exactly the opposite demeanor (stoic and emotionless). If by "not working out" you mean that a rikishi simply had (inter-)personal problems of some kind in Ozumo and had to leave because of that, sure, and I think that actually does account for many of the higher-profile switchers. But I don't think you can just take any mildly talented sumotori and mold him into a successful pro wrestler. Oh don't get me wrong, I am as much of a sumo fan as I am a wrestling fan. And I know that the Dojos of New Japan, NOAH, or All Japan or whoever are as harsh if not harsher, at least from the amount you have to deliver phisically. Emotional expression, well, I don't know about that, Misawa is one of the greatest wrestler ever and he had exactly one facial expression. It depends on the way you work with it. But I see where you are coming from and in general you have a point^^ But Sumo is a legit background, which is usually quite important in Puro, and if you were in sumo you probably lerned to torture yourself (I don't think this expression is a thing in english, but I suppose you get what I mean^^), which is also quite important. And if you were "only" in the lower Maegashira ranks or deeper, you could be sure to make more money in Puro (at least back in the day), even if you stay forever in the undercard. And as seen with Akebono and Hama (who was sumo wise of course only Makushita, so no comparsion to Akebono) you can also make a gimmick out of it, if you have no different abilities in the ring. And last but not least there are quite a few good examples that it can work out great, like Rikidozan (of course) or Tenryu and so on. Sorry about all the wrestling talk, I don't know if anyone is interested in it anyway^^ But one thing I wish would have happened is Asashoryu in wrestling. That would have been gold. Heel Asa vs Tanahashi would sell out 3 Tokyo Domes in a day :D Edit: Oh and one thing, I am not sure anymore if I asked this, but how is Tenryu able tzo keep such good relations to sumo, even though (according to Wikipedia) he had beef with Kyokai for them not letting him change his stable?
-
If the list is correct, than there are less than I expected. Puro seems to be such a natural way if Sumo is not working out the way you want.
-
Wow. that fits his sumo style so well. I hope one day he will just be Jo because why is he going so much backwards?
-
Everyone is talking about possible thrown matches and stuff and I am just sitting here, being happy Hakuho won. Seeing Hakuho win never gets old for me. Too bad he probably won't break Futabayamas record now, though.
-
Maybe deep down in his heart, he is just a rebel B-)
-
Hakuho shifted like a half centimeter to the side. I wouldn't call it a Henka, Also Kisenosato jumped like he was trying to dive into a pool. It wasn't Ozumo, but for me it was on the same level as Harumfujis Not-Henka. It is on the edge. Personally, I would have prefered a good match, though.
-
Maybe Hakuho should have tried to get a good grip with a fast Tachiai and then go straight forwardi, since Terunofuji is kinda slow and often ends up in the worse position at the Tachiai. And if he can not power him out, than he could go for the throw. To be honest, Hakuho did not really seem to have a good game plan today. Anyway, I am sure he will win anyway. I do not see Terunofuji win all his remaining matches And Hakuho losing one. But we will see.

Putting guys over and Ric Flair in the same sentence. Never have seen that before :D If someone is going to challenge Hakuho, he needs to come up fast because I don't think he will go on fightng if he is phisacally not 100 percent anymore and from 30 onwards it is probably more down than up. Maybe it's Terunofuji?

Because his Japanese wife and children are comfortable where they are. Seriously, can anyone believe that Hakuho's wife, Wada Sayako, and his three children all born and raised in Japan would adapt easily/willingly from a modernized multi-cosmopolitan MASSIVE CITY of Tokyo to a sparse nomadic country regardless of how well Hakuho and his family would live in Mongolia? No way. You do know that Hakuho was brought up in Ulaanbaatar? Not much of a normadic live going on there. Not as big as Tokyo, and the air is more poluted, but it is a giant city, where you can live very comfortable with the right money.

Great, thanks to both of you^^ If I have to write tomorrow something about visting japan, I atleast have this one^^
-
Sorry for posting two times in a row, but is there really nobody who has an idea?^^

Hello there, in two days I write my first japanese exam and I have a question: If I want to write "Hakuho fought Kisenosato on day 13 of the Hatu Basho. It was very exciting." How would you translate that? In hiragana please, since I do not know many Kanji yet. Except for the Rikishis names^^
-
Does anybody know why Genichiro Tenryu did a cut? In general, are rikishi who became pro wrestler, even though they could have stayed longer in Ozumo, "persona non grata", or were they in the past? Or does it just depend on who did stop and why?
-
I never count out anybody who has beaten Hakuho :D But I am really concerned, too, espacially since I enjoy his sumo. But I see a lot room for improvement. He has to work on his balance and on his variety, and he will be up there again. So I cheer for him and believe that he will come to Osaka in very good shape^^ Edit: But age is really not working in his favour, I did not know he is nearly thirty.
-
Well, if that is the case, I might know why it did not work out^^ It was valid looking, though. Maybe the german dailling code confused it.
-
I just tried registering for the Ustream thing, and it said it would send me an E-Mail with my ID and password. The system did not, though. Does anybody know, ff I have to just wait an hour or so or did it just not work (I tried it with 2 different Email adfresses, never got an E-Mail).

After looking beatable in the beginning, Hakuho has proved once again, that he is the man, by beating Kotoshogiku and Kisenosato convincingly. Congratulations to Hakuho, he deserves everything he gets, I am glad he did it, even though I thought in the beginning that this would be Harumafujis Tournament. Everything about this day and Hakuhos win was great (Except for Araibira spoiling it for me on Facebook), and I hope he will get plenty more yusho.

I think nobody wants to deny that Takanohana was a master on the belt and a great Yokuzuna, but saying if he had this and that he might have surpassed Taiho is like saying if he had to fight Wakanohana and Takanonami on a regular basis he might have less Yusho than Akebono. It might have been like that, who knows. And really, who cares? It won't make Takanohana better in anyones eyes, it won't make Hakuho worse in anyones eyes. I enjoy Hakuhos style, he has a great feeling for the position of the opponent and seems to have an answer for everything. It is like seeing a genius at work. That being said, Takanohanas Shiko really is superb compared to Hakuhos. I like Hakuhos Doyho Iri nonetheless, it seems very intense to me (most of the time). But Takanohanas is technically better.

Hakuho really is not as dominating as usual so far. And Harumafuji seems like 120 %. So there is a real chance for Harumafuji winning this one. I hope he doesn't though^^ But we will see.
