  1. After Day 15... Hakuho 314 ¥17,270,000 Harumafuji 157 ¥8,635,000 Kisenosato 102 ¥5,610,000 Kotoshogiku 64 ¥3,520,000 Goeido 47 ¥2,585,000 Kotooshu 41 ¥2,255,000 Myogiryu 25 ¥1,375,000 Kakuryu 24 ¥1,320,000 Chiyotairyu 16 ¥880,000 Aminishiki 14 ¥770,000 After losing a hard fought battle with Yokozuna on Day 14, Kisenosato entered senshuraku still with a slim chance at the Yusho providing he could defeat Kotoshogiku and Harumafuji won the clash of the Yokozuna. Neither happened and Hakuho claimed his 25th top-division title. The Yokozuna also claimed 63 kensho over the final two days, clearing 300 for the tournament. It's the first time since Aki 2012 that anyone took home more the 300 envelopes. It's also the first time in several years that there have been at least three rikishi finishing the tournament with 100 or more.

  10. Disclaimer: I translate this information from the Nikkan Sports Webpage. It should not be considered official. Nikkan is known to make mistakes in their kensho counts from time to time, but they usually get around to correcting them. Also, Nikkan only posts the top 10 everyday, so I have no idea how many kensho someone not on that list has. Hakuho 35 ¥1,925,000 Harumafuji 16 ¥880,000 Goeido 7 ¥385,000 Kotoshogiku 6 ¥330,000 Kisenosato 5 ¥275,000 Kotooshu 4 ¥220,000 Azumaryu 4 ¥220,000 Kakuryu 3 ¥165,000 Baruto 3 ¥165,000 Masunoyama 2 ¥110,000 Familiar names at the top of the list after the first day.
  11. Oops, I am afraid there is a mistake with regard to Hironoumi. Being promoted to Ozeki after a MK would stretch the definition of banzuke luck too far... Apparently I mistakenly marked both Konosato and Hironoumi as Ozeki when I copied the old banzuke into my banzuke-making spreadsheet and treated them as such. I've corrected the error and edited the original post to reflect the new Makuuchi. Makuuchi now only has one Ozeki. Sorry everybody. (Foot in mouth...)
