  1. oh please ... B-) A very good response... not. Obviously you disagree. It would be much more appreciated if you could explain why instead of just doing that kind of a remark.
  2. I dont want to spoil anything, but Mizakuras foot(upper side) touched the doyho and his hand touched the tawara before the other guy went down/out. I dont think he should have won. I mean its not judo, were you can do sacrificing throws like that. I admit it was very nice though.
  3. timemachine, anyone? B-)
  4. Not just that you copy my post right of you are making fun of my name too.. thats just uncalled for. (On the banzuke...) Seriously, its nothing to apologize for. I admit the post was a little confusing though... (Holiday feeling...)
  5. Here was I thinking the worldrecord holder of 100meters is the fastest and therefore the best athlete within his sport. Maybe I was wrong... (Holiday feeling...)
  6. That`s really funny. The legendary Kimura was my height 5`7", but at least he did 900 push-ups a day. I only do 100 or so. 900 push-ups a day, thats laughable. (Holiday feeling...) http://www.recordholders.org/en/list/pushups.html
  7. In the professional sumo in Japan there is no weight classes. Therefore weighing much is benifitial. Fat rather than muscles is easier to "grow" and tend to place itselfs on the "right" places of the body, big bellys is common and will give you a lowe center of gravity. You could ask yourself if same weight of muscles would be better in sumo, I dont really know. If you would aim on a 150kg muscle body you probably wouldnt get much sumo practise, just very much time i the gym. I guess its a walk of balance. There have been succseful wrestlers who have been leaner. In amatuer sumo there is weight classes and only the top classes seems to be "fat". So you have to seperate sumo as sport and japanese proffesional sumo. Dont think the ozumo guys is just fat, they have a lot of muscles too and are great athletes. Somebody said that the avarage sekitori has a lower bodyfat percentage than the avarage woman.
  8. If Im not misstaken Kirishima have a chanko place in ryogoku... Not an answer to your questions, just an interesting fact for a fan. If you have the way by sometime maybe you should drop in! :-)
  9. She seems to have similar physique like Sasa's girlfriend. (Laughing...) Who is Sasa ? (Whistling...) You do fancy her! Sasanishiki. The guy who just wrote several posts in other threads but appearentely decided not to comment here. Of course it is, I had some clue..
  10. She seems to have similar physique like Sasa's girlfriend. (Showing respect...) Who is Sasa ? (In a state of confusion...)
  11. Woow.. she is actually kind of hot. My kind of girl.. (Whistling...)
  12. I would think Asa have the same mass of muscle as for example chiyonofuji had... Asa has jus more fat. See more in the "bodyfat percentage" thread.
  13. So its a fair statement that Asashoryu has about the same amount of muscles as Chiyonofuji had during his days? Asa has just more fat. According to my calculations Asa would have about 24% of bodyfat and still have the same amount of muscles as Chiyonofuji had. And this is calculated with Chiyo 127kg weight and 11% bodyfat (lowest he ever had) and Asa 148kg weight. They are/were about the same height , Asa 1cm taller according to kyokais website, so the height is not really a factor and can be overseen.
  14. Whats the avarage bodyfat percentage among the sekitoris?Whats Asashoryus? If you dont have facts, make a guess. I read somwhere Chiyonofuji was down to 11% at some point during his sumo days? That cannot be true can it? certanly it must be more.
  15. Im not saying that keiko cant be/isnt hard. I bet there is hard fotball practise too. Afterall a training session, in any sport, is only as hard as you make it. I am saying that there is much dead time and it could been done alot more effective, why not train hard for 1,5 to 2 hours instead of just standing around in 4? Thanks Petr. I remember it too, why didnt it happen? Next time Im in Japan lets make it happen. (Pulling hair...) Sorry for being a bit off topic.
  16. This 4 hours a day keiko is a bit missleading. There is a lot of dead time, much more than others sports i think. Besides ordinary rest, time that goes to flexing your muscles in to the mirror, holding the saltbasket or just stand and watch other guys wrestle. (Neener, neener...) . Seriously, its my feeling that there is much dead time. One reason may be that there usually only is one ring at the heya. I know there are other activities than bouts but that doesnt seem to popular.
  17. These are also illegal, AFAIK, if they are recorded from TV. However, MTV might care more about this than NHK does... Yes its illegal, but whats the worst thing that can happen? MTV somehow notice that someone uploaded it, and they will demand the site to remove it. Both basho videos and this sumo documentary is quite at the same level of "commersial value" level, a quite low level I think, therefore I see no actuall risk to upload it. I mean its no big hollywood production we are dealing with. An upload would be nice, it would be interesting to watch. BTW, I dont see why MTV would care more about their copyrighted material than NHK.
  18. Not legally, no. In this case, who cares? yea yea probably mtv . Dont care about that just upload it. (Holiday feeling...)
  19. Its the kensho situation on his later bouts when he was more in the race so to speak.. obviously there have been kenshos, as I saw at todays bout too. Its just me who is totally out there.... (Clapping wildly...) As for his blog, I cant read japanese signs but enjoys the pics. I really like the picture at the mainpage, Toyo standing between Roho and Kotooshu. Roho signs toyos height and they all laugh.. priceless. Madorosumaru, thanks anyway for making the effort in pointing out to me.
  20. Being a big toyo fan, thank you for the report! As far as I know there hasnt been any kenshos at stake with toyos bouts. Why doesnt any take the chance and sponsor his last bouts, I mean he still has the chance and Im sure more people tune in to watch his bouts because of his chance even if its small.
  21. Just watched the bouts. Thank you for posting the link. =)
  22. OK. Yes off course there is a easy solution to the "curly hair" problem. Herman (the author) indicated that the curly hair wasnt the real reason to stopping the africans to compete.
  23. I have just heard a very interesting and also very funny audio clip once broadcast on swedish radio. The year is 1994 and Heman Lindqvist a swedish author and journalist is explaining to the swedish people what sumo is all about. As the title sais: " the art of moving a fatso" . Anyhow to get to the topic title. Herman mention in his report about sumo that there was once attempts from talent scouts to recruit african wrestlers, but there were not allowed to compete (I asume by the kyokai). And here comes the fun part, the reason why they werent allowed to compete were because of thier hair apperently it was to curly for the traditional hairstyle. That was the official excuse. were there such a case of an attempt to recruit african wrestlers? And if so was their hair to curly for sumo? (Whistling...) Over all the report was full of myth and prejudice. What can you do but laugh. All you swedish speeking people make sure to listen to this fun report.
  24. So, you would expect women who want to do Sumo to do it just like the men, mawashi and topless? I saw a movie once where.. forget it. I was talking about the non shorts . The women can use some kind of top. the reason to wear a top? for practically purposes.. a lot of bouncing and stuff.
