Guest Emphyrio Posted June 27, 2002 Does anyone have any idea why Kotomitsuki was bounced from Sekiwake all the way down to M-6?? I mean, he must have really done something zany to deserve that or somebody, somewhere doesn't like him much. Can anybody come up with an answer to that one? Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted June 27, 2002 He didn't receive a kosho status after his jaw injury and was deemed to have fifteen losses in May. The drop from sekiwake to about M6 is quite regular in these circumstances. In March 1999 Musoyama, then sekiwake, suffered a basho-ending injury in the second day of Osaka Basho and went to record a 1-2-12. He was dropped to M6E. There was even a petition from Sadogatake-beya's supporters to get Mickey treated as having got an injury during the basho which in fact was how it happened. The injury took place in a bout against Otsukasa but the official procedures weren't followed and he wasn't asked to receive a kosho status in time as the injury was first thought to be less severe than it actually turned out to be. Someone will elaborate if I got something incorrectly out of my memory in the morning before my first dose of caffeine. (Zzz...)
Guest Emphyrio Posted June 28, 2002 Thanks. I'm glad to get that clarified. I'm not really up on all or for that matter, many of the intricacies involved in Professional Sumo so having this forum where I can slither in and ask dumb questions is going to be a real pleasure. Thanks again. ;-)
