Guest Kaikitsune Posted September 3, 2002 Soken news: Takanohana did only 110 shiko and didn't participate in the bouts. Watanabe was annoyed. Today Takanohana did only light keiko but there hasn't been any indication he wouldn't take part in Aki basho. Kaio was the most eager rikishi having 23 training bouts which was the most of all rikishi. Records of his bouts remain unknown except for 3 losses to Musashimaru. He probably had those bouts at the latter part of the session when Maru started. Musashimaru won all 3 against already keiko'ed Kaio and then had 4 bouts against Asashoryu winning 2 and losing 2. Maru experienced "electric" feeling originating his neck at the end of one bout so it is not healthy yet. He is not in bad shape though. In my opinion Maru has his prodigious power and good condition but training against his stable mates or Kaio won't put much if any strain on his neck whereas Asashoryu attacks throat immediately arching the neck backwards as well as Chiyotaikai. Chiyotaikai was absent. Asashoryu was strong and wrestled at his record weight 141kg. He eats 10 eggs daily. 16 bouts he fought.
