Promotion/Demotion and Yusho Discussion Nagoya 2025
Seseragi replied to Asashosakari's topic in Honbasho Talk
I'm very green to banzukenomics but 3 Sekiwake feels very wrong given he went 11-4 from M1 and you normally need that from Komusubi to promote?* The last time it happened in 2017 (Tamawashi) they had one sekiwake (Mitakeumi) and one kumosubi (Onosho) after the maths so they needed to get more people up, and Onosho only went 7-8 so could easily be leapfrogged? The Sanyaku hasn't collapsed this time so I really can't see how they came to this one. I wonder what the chance of 3 Komusubi is though? *I don't think it would have changed my conclusion if he had won on the last day and went 12-3 -
Hi! I'm Seseragi. I started watching sumo in November, keeping up with the Kyushu basho. One of NHK World's catchup videos appeared in my Youtube feed and I've been following sumo ever since! One thing I enjoy about sumo is the storylines and narratives that can develop over the course of Bashos. Like when people are on Yokozuna watch or whether this can finally be the time someone in particular wins a yusho. I've also been getting in to the fantasy games like Kachi Clash, Guess the Banzuke and Sumo Game, and for this basho I've tried out the Super Banzuke games (Chain Gang, ISP, Roto). Hoping to try some of the forum games in the future! It's good there are still traditional forums around!

Thanks! I've mainly benefitted from the low-makushita players who set a default 10 and then don't change it for the whole basho. I'm sure as I get higher ranked it'll get much tougher.

For Sumogames.de games, I started Chain Gang, ISP and Roto Sumo this basho with very mixed results! I've been doing GTB and Sumo Game for a couple of bashos now already. For some reason I don't think I've been approved on Bench Sumo yet (options are greyed out) despite signing up months ago. I'll definitely add a couple more into my rotation for September (Probably the Hoshitoris).

Been a very fun basho to watch. Been impressed by how Fujinokawa survived a rough first few bouts where he took some nasty spills into a very respectable score. Aonishiki was very good and I look forward to seeing him climb. It will be interesting to see how Onosato adapts after this basho now a few people seem to have his number. My main wish is I want to see Yokozuna Hoshoyru healthy for once!
