  1. Fair enough, i just thought that an ozeki level coach would be able to teach the mental game of top competition it i guess someone who has struggled as hard or harder and not quite hit the top is more valuable for the young guys coming up, not eveyone is blessed with natural sumo talent like those who shoot through the ranks to the top maybe the tenacious spirit needed to sustain in the long run is better taught by the guys who never made sanyaku,

    (ex-)Oyakata columnists

Konishiki’s insight is awesome, musashimaru has an “it was better in my day” whininess
  3. Another less than stellar rikishi becoming stable master, they get rid of takanohama and hakuho yet these mediocre buffoons thrive in the nsk, not great for the kids he is now in charge of

Maybe Musashimaru needs to be more introspective and focus on being a better oyakata since he has failed so far to raise a single sekitori wrestler,
  5. I dont think 11-4 is enough to open up a new sekiwake slot for aonishiki. I would think komosubi more likely.

    Yumitori-shiki rikishi news

Isnt he out because hoshoryu is out? I thought the bow twirler was associated with active yokozuna so nishonoseki will supply twirler for the rest of the tournament

    Kensho Nagoya 2025

I dont understand how oshoma does so well with the kensho, he seems pretty unpopular with the public given the low crowd enthusiasm when he gets kk or has a win and his sumo is fairly lazy hatakikomi and henka, i would have thought some of the more charismatic and popular rikshi would do better

    Preparations of the Y/O - Nagoya 2025

Absolutely, i am here to learn as much as i can, love the layers of complexity that come with ozumo and am well prepared to have my assumptions soundly dashed by people in the know, this is an amazing forum

    Preparations of the Y/O - Nagoya 2025

I am a latecomer to sumo, terunofuji never appealed to me as he was the grumpy, damaged old bully that broke kirishima and cost him ozeki hakuho, an impressive character was from the past and looked like he couldnt be matched in this generation until this year, how lucky are we to see the rise of the current pair of yokozuna, young and fit and looking to dominate for the foreseeable future, exciting times all we need now are some solid ozeki to form a barrier to the lower ranks and sumo will be set for years to come

    Ceremonial dohyo-iri

Now thats a shiko, maybe nishonoseki beya could hire kotoeiho as a consultant IMG_7540.webp

    Kensho Haru 2025

Why does oshoma do so well, is it because he henkas so much? Hes certainly not very popular with the crowds, when he went kk last basho not much clapping, mostly crickets

    Yokozuna Onosato

    That would scare the kids

    Ceremonial dohyo-iri

Maybe coordination too, hoshoryu seems steadier on his feet, you are right, maybe a lacklustre dohyo iri is a small price to pay for all the extra yusho.

    Ceremonial dohyo-iri

Onosato has a bit of a lazy style, he only makes it half way across the shikirisen before he has stood up, hoshoryus dohyo iri looks a lot better. Maybe a reflection on onosato coming from amateur sumo and rocketing through the ranks, he has missed out on a solid core of sumo basics,

    Banzuke for Nagoya 2025

I believe you have accurately described the banzuke process
