Now this may be a bit off-topic, but I don't really see how forcing injured rikishi to dohyo before the injuries have healed improves the quality of sumo on the dohyo. I would claim that the opposite is true. Just think of sumo (still injured) Kotooshu has shown during last few bashos. He has been criticized a lot lately and I don't think it's because of having too much quality in his sumo. And to get back to topic: That's basically what he said. The quote would be something like "Well, if a 22-year old's knee can't hold a man then, dammit, it has to be cut off. But (the injury) has to be treated properly and it (the knee) will hold." He also said that the injury is not as serious as feared and that he hopes to compete in Osaka. In other news he said that he'll be back in (light) training in 2-3 weeks.

So Baruto vs. the Ozekis is now 1:1 as far as henkas are concerned.

Perhaps not exactly a coincidence but I was thinking about the same thing just before I saw your post. Considering who his opponents have been I'd say 3-6 is actually very good record for Kisenosato. I believe days 1-8 were the most difficult part of the tournament for him and he survived it reasonably well. It'll get (marginally) easier from now on. I think Kisenosato will do much better that 4-11. I wouldn't bet on it but my (bold) prediction is that he'll achieve kachi-koshi.

Sumo is OLD. Did Baruto want to mention that Sumo has got a long history? or Did Baruto want to say that Sumo is a old type of sports ? Read the article too. The first one is what Baruto ment.

Exactly! If you look at the "I want to beat all the ozekis" quote more carefully you'll see that Baruto's other aim is to have a good bout against the Yokozuna. Not a word about beating him. If that's not showing respect to the Yokozuna then (Eh?)

Nah! I'm sure it's just as common sight as that of Makuuchi rookie being in yusho contention after day 13. (Clapping wildly...)

I don't have that information, but I'm sure someone from Eesti Sumoliit does. Their contacts can be found from Internet from http://www.1181.ee for example.

This has been reported in Estonia as done deal for a few days now. I wonder where the information is coming from. This has not been made officially public yet, has it? Maybe Baruto himself is the source of this information. Or maybe it's a common knowledge everywhere and it's just me being clueless... (Showing respect...)
