Autographs of rikishi - help with recognition

By the way, this is my current way of working when I am trying to recognize autographs: Recognize easy to read signatures (e.g. Tochinoshin, Aran) Recognize unique/distinctive signatures (e.g. Sakahoko, Aminishiki). Those are a bit harder to recognize, especially someone like Sakahoho whose signature does not resemble his kanji (or at least I cannot see it), but many of them are really unique and easy to recognize once I've seen them a few times in the past (e.g. on a tegata). Pick the unknown autograph and try to recognize at least one kanji (of course, the more the better). Use the rikishi section of sumodb and search for that kanji using a regular expression - e.g. if I recognize shikona ending with -fuji (富士), I will search for the string "*富士" to list all the rikishi whose shikona ends with those characters. Then I try to pick the one that fits the best, and try to find a photo of the autograph somewhere on the internet (which can be really hard, especially with lower ranked sekitori). In utterly hopeless cases, I try to search the full image using Google images search, but 99% of the time it doesn't work. I am sure it can be somehow optimized, but it is the best I can do at the moment.

Autographs of rikishi - help with recognition

    Thanks, I did not expect more than 85% to be recognized (although some are uncertain). My original goal was around 60-70%, which I thought would take a few days of work. In the meantime, I photographed every autograph from the second notebook: Part1: 1 to 59 Part 2: 60 to 98 1 - Kaio 2 - Aminishiki 3 - Hamanishiki 4 - Tamanoshima (uncertain) 5 - Tamakasuga 6 - Takekaze (uncertain) 7 - 8 - Gokenzan (uncertain) 9 - Takanotsuru 10 - 11 - 12 - Takanotsuru 13 - Kimurayama (uncertain) 14 - Iwakiyama 15 - Kitazakura 16 - Buyuzan 17 - Yotsukasa 18 - 19 - 20 - Dewanofuji 21 - Futen'o 22 - Tochinofuji (uncertain) 23 - Tochiazuma 24 - Tochinonada 25 - Toyonoumi 26 - Kimurayama (uncertain) 27 - Kotohakusan (uncertain) 28 - Kotonowaka I 29 - Tokitsuumi 30 - 31 - 32 - Kirinowaka (uncertain) 33 - Takanotsuru 34 - 35 - Tamanoshima (uncertain) 36 - 37 - Wakashimazu 38 - 39 - Roho 40 - 41 - Tochisakae 42 - Otsukasa 43 - 44 - 45 - Toyonoshima (uncertain) 46 - Kasuganishiki 47 - Kitazakura 48 - Hakuho 49 - Asasekiryu (uncertain) 50 - Roho 51 - Kisenosato 52 - Dejima 53 - 54 - Takekaze 55 - Yoshikaze 56 - Homasho 57 - Daimanazuru (uncertain) 58 - 59 - Kokkai 60 - Ryuo (uncertain) 61 - 62 - Tochiozan 63 - 64 - Baruto 65 - Toyozakura (uncertain) 66 - Kirinowaka 67 - 68 - Tochiozan 69 - 70 - Tochinoshin 71 - Kitataiki 72 - Kimurayama 73 - Yamamotoyama 74 - Masatsukasa 75 - 76 - Kotooshu 77 - 78 - Kisenosato 79 - 80 - Wakakoyu 81 - Kotomitsuki 82 - Tamawashi 83 - 84 - 85 - 86 - 87 - Kasuganishiki 88 - Kimurayama 89 - Tochiozan 90 - Kitataiki 91 - Gagamaru 92 - 93 - Aran 94 - Tochinoshin 95 - Otsukasa 96 - 97 - 98 - Recognized - 68/98 (69%) Baruto's signature was quite unexpected - when I first saw it, my initial reaction was "I've never seen a kanji like that" and then "Oh, that's because it's not a kanji".
  3. Hello everyone, I recently got 4 notebooks full of rikishi autographs. Many of them I am able to recognize, but each notebook contains over 100 autographs.
