That's where opinions differ. I personally like surprises. I want a Maegashira 12 to fight for yusho, beating two Ozeki on the last two days, giving them make koshi. (Shaking head...) My impression is that in the first part of these 7 years we had Yokozunas at the end of their career, whose performances where very inconstant. So they often went either make koshi or kyujo. For a few years now we have a young Yokozuna in a very good shape, dominating the scene. But suddenly the Ozekis are struggling... I have no good explanation for that. Maybe there's just too much pressure set on them by the japanese public.

I feel compassion for poor Takamisakari. (Being unsure...) It's a pity that Asa chose somebody as a victim who reacts so very emotional sometimes. He better should have done that to a guy like Roho, whose motivation would really increase after such an incident. But Takamisakari... I guess he's now sitting in a corner of his room, weeping. (Feeling guilty...)

Maybe you'll recognize him on this pic: (I was stupid...)

I guess he meant this - indeed almost invisible - story from the news ticker: (Whistling...) Well, congratulations to the couple. (I was stupid...) (Blushing...)

It was announced today that 6 rikishi will be promoted from Makushita to Juryo - which is a surprisingly high number. Couldn't this mean that there will also be more promotions to Makuuchi this time? It was a very special basho with all those kyujos, so maybe they take the opportunity to bring many new faces to Makuuchi. I expect at least Shimotori, Kasugao, Tokitsuumi and Wakatoba to be promoted, but maybe even Harunoyama will get another chance. (Applauding...)

:-S This is a reply This is another reply. :-D I just wanted to say that I like your avatar a lot! (Applauding...)

With so many rikishi gone kyujo it's much better to have a 37-23 after ten days than a 30-30. (Chased by the fans...) My result is 35-25 now... But as I selected Chiyotaikai (who is 3-7 at the moment, but will be 3-12 in the end) I see myself in a better position than somebody who picked Iwakiyama, Hakuho, Roho and Chiyotaikai and has a record of 30-30 after ten days. (Bleh!)

How can you dare disturbing me when I want to practise my shiko? (I am not worthy...) Go away, Osh!

What a day. :-( 11 out, only 1 left. It's decided - the winner is... Godaikonoryu. (Feeling guilty...)

It's strange... I tried a hundred different glasses in my life - but this is the only pair that does stay on my nose without adhesive. (Online too long...) I really have to thank my grandmother for these. (Nodding yes...)

Oh no. If you can't trust Buyuzan, who can you trust? :-/ What else do I have to do to be kicked out? I guess you only fall if you don't expect it at all. So I will go with a highly rated favourite now. ;-)
-
I'm totally surprised that I'm still in. ;-) I really don't deserve this honour, so I will immediately commit harakiri by picking Buyuzan!
-
Puuuuhhh, what's that smell? :-S (Blushing...)

But day 3 was really easy. (Nodding yes...) Only 4 players were kicked out, 26 are still in. Yesterday for me it was a difficult decision between Kotomitsuki, Hakuho, Wakanosato and Iwakiyama. Finally I chose Wakanosato, but all of my other candidates won their bouts, too. Today it looks much harder. (Pulling hair...) I bet that day 4 will break my neck. I'm still not sure who to pick. (Clapping wildly...)

... so you became a fan of Ozumo? lolI don't think that Tour De France is still just an annual meeting of dopers - as the tour has become rather 'easy' now, with shorter routes and less mountains. This time it seems to me, that Armstrong is no longer as superior as he used to be. So we can (hopefully) expect a more exciting tour this year.

A few years ago I visited a friend in London and we met in a restaurant with real English food. I had cooked lamb with peppermint sauce. The lamb was as grey as dust (must have been cooked for more than two hours) and the sauce was as green as mould. ;-) And what should I say... it tasted... really delicious! (Licking lips...) So English food is great - if it's eaten in a very dark room. :-)

I guess he will change back to gold after his next loss. So he'll be wearing his black mawashi for a veeery long time... (Blushing...)

The rikishi in the article had an interesting shikona: "Taka-my-mama-can-beat-yo-mama". Does anybody have some more information on him? Doitsuyama perhaps? (Applauding...) This guy is named "Andrew"... (Blushing...)

No problem. ;-) Thank you for lighting up my day with this funny thread. (Showing respect...) By the way... when I searched the web for those mysterious non-pornographic sumo pictures I only found this one: Hmmm.... Greek style sumo? (Sad goodbyes...)

I miss the option "15, but only if yusho or junyusho". In my opinion he will need 13 wins for promotion. ;-) If Mickey had been in sanyaku for the last three bashos, 11-4 should be borderline (giving him 33 wins). But under theses conditions a 12-3 would make it a difficult decision. After the last remarks of the Rijicho it rather looks like a 12-3 may not be enough. That's why I came to the conclusion that Mickey needs a 13-2 again (which is almost an impossible task).

Thanks for making that clear, 'Robert' (if that's a picture of you in your avatar...). My first interpretation was that Hakurozan bought a bike that actually belonged to Orora. But it seemed too unbelievable to me that Orora could have owned a bike... (Blushing...) When reading Manekineko's full translation (спасибо for that! ) I had to realize that my Russian is even worse than I thought - I understood so many things in a wrong way.
-
Thank you a lot for that, Manekineko. (Blushing...) Rikishi with more hair should need even more time then. (Eating...)
-
Wow, it's a big job to translate such a long interview. You're really doing this? (Blushing...) I'm totally curious: What's that anecdote with Orora and the bicycle about? I didn't understand that part - it's in the paragraph above the picture of the two brothers with Orora and Wakanoho. I just can't imagine Orora on a bike. (Eh?) (My Russian used to be better once...) (Eating...)

In my eyes Takanohana may say whatever he wants (especially when it goes against lazybone Waka :-) ). Taka is no politician. Maybe his bashing even causes some more attention for the sport. Any publicity is good publicity... (Punk rocker...)

Yesterday VIVA already showed the part where Michael Wigge (who's a comedian - somehow...) visits Petrs club. He talks with Petr a little bit, does some training with Petrs pals and later he has a few sumo bouts with one of them. Michael chooses the weakest looking opponent - but nevertheless he loses most of his bouts. The complete show is named "Wigge diplomiert Japan" and - as Petr already told - shown on Saturday (20.00 - 22.00) and Sunday (17.00 - 19.00) on VIVA.
