The https harassment by the browser can be stopped easily on the PC, on my Android Firefox I have no option to prevent that http links get opened as https, though force https is turned off, and there is no easy switch to turn the https off on a newly opened page.

No new members possible and this, using the forum will fade out.

I can no longer delete "s" from "https"; my brouser restores it automatically. :'-(

Yeah, same for me on any PC-based browsers now after mobile ones were already rejecting it for a while. Worse - and possibly related to that - somebody just reported on Discord that they're no longer able to log in to the forum at all. I've tried to reproduce that, and yeah. :-O (On a second browser obviously, otherwise I couldn't be typing this right now.) Now things are going to get really troublesome if Exil doesn't come back around to install forum engine updates...

I had one Forum page open on my mobile that stayed at http and now it switched to https. Bookmarks or chronic links now also get converted on opening, so far they opened like intended.

"Verified by let's encrypt" is what has to be dealt with

To use old features, I have an old Firefox version in use parallel to the developer edition. I have to keep going back in versions to still have access to what I want. I'm at version 46 now, after earlier this year also 47 had problems.

Only very few sites display there. Now I'm used to be careful with it, else I might accidentally use it on really not secure sites.

It's my editor for the filtered downloaded daily News, for the forum for posting at the basho - and saving from the NSK site. The forum today stopped displaying there, I may have to go back to a 20s or 30s version now (looks like Firefox 25 or Netscape)

With the forum registered as exception, at least in the developer edition the links stay at http.

It's now let me log in, and with an https address. I can't even begin to guess what the problem is. Are things changing behind the scenes?

I had a look last week at the support site for the forum's software, and depending on what options were chosen by the admins there's a fairly large chance that various behind-the-scenes services are getting updated automatically by the vendor or others.

I am also in the same boat: everything mysteriously works again.

OTOH, I'm a bit worried that our admin/host appears to be missing.  Does anyone know Exil (or anyone else with the keys) well enough to get in touch?

I tried the old Netscape, which doesn't support https, but apparently the forum security protocol demands https and no old browser can display the site. I thought the exception in developer edition still works, but that was an already opened page - any newly opened page now gets converted to https - looks like the forum software does not support http-only at all any more and the security protocol forces the link to https, my browser settings claim that firefox does not try to convert to https

Giving likes and changing pages still works on the PC and on a mobile device not, but the blacklist error is likely to turn up more often now

Yeah, same here, logging in works again. Previously (for many weeks before today's issue, not just today) it would report that the login data was being sent unencrypted even while using https to access the overall site, that's no longer the case either.

Edit: At minimum, the "there was a problem loading this content" error when hovering over user profiles is also gone.

Done and he is on it.
