Why are some names painted in red and some in yellow? Also, am I correct in assuming that this stone only lists Yokozuna starting with Kashiwado who was 47th Yokozuna?

Gold names are deceased. It is a traditional colour on ancestors votive tablets for the high flyers.

This stone, yes. There is another one with the first 46.

That's at a different yokozuna stone, at the Tomioka Hachimangu - no pics or news about that yet

Yokozuna Hoshoryu was reported by Nikkan Sports to be in the process of acquiring Japanese citizenship.

Hoshoryu is back in Mongolia and received the usual award for Mongolian yokozuna (Terunofuji did not), a Hero of Labour of Mongolia, like uncle and Hakuho

Maybe that’s a good thing. The two Yokozuna that did get the award are no longer in sumo….

I'm just guessing, but Teru became a Japanese citizen in August 2021 and most likely had to renounce his Mongolian citizenship at the same time. Since he only just became Yokozuna after the July basho 2021, there might simply not have been enough time to honor him while he was still Mongolian and he was likely no more eligible as soon as he wasn't a Mongolian citizen anymore.

Bad timing could be a reason, but others below yokozuna got an award as well, Terunofuji in an interview last month said he got no award at all from Mongolia - for Terunofuji as an (ex-)ozeki there should have been enough time to give him one. Lack of connections may be the reason - not on good terms with Asahoryu or Hakuho
