intai press conference: he told the oyakata before the basho that he's crossed his limits already. He wants to be a trainer from now on

If you don’t mind me elaborating, the Mainichi article covering the press conference specifies that he aspires to become a personal trainer - this career path came into his mind thanks to the various injuries he suffered through the years, leading him to develop a deeper interest in the body’s mechanical functions.
He wishes to apply the knowledge gained around conditioning/injury prevention from his time in Ōzumō to help sportspeople of all distinctions

Ex-Yutakayama reported his retirement today to the mayor of Niigata, who also is the head of his local koenkai. He asked him to have a cut at his danpatsushiki, planned for next year. o

As personal trainer he wants to help from outside of the NSK to have another sekitori appear from Niigata

...and the mayor replied: "Seriously? You can't even afford a proper hairdresser after dawdling away the best time of your life??"

The other one for Hokkoku shimbun to support is amateur yokozuna Nakamura, the paper has the head office in Ishikawa pref.

Yutakayama was present at the rikishi-kai held at the Kokugikan today, and shared some interesting tidbits about his life post-Ōzumō as well as future plans - he has already lost 22kg in one month, and plans to lose even more in order to compete in the 2024 Tōkyō marathon. Currently 159kg, he aims for below 100kg - at this rate and with his personal training aspirations in mind, he can get there easily between now and then.

In a bid to keep his knees in good shape, he has taken up walking, which he attributes his weight loss to. “It’s definitely not (as straining on the knees) as suriashi” he cheerfully quipped.

I don't believe I've ever seen a pre-danpatsu-skiki retiree not wearing his hair in a chon-mage. I don't suppose he gives a toss any longer, but it seems wrong.

Alternatively he's living without access to a tokoyama and a ponytail is much lower maintenance.

He already started to work as personal trainer and goes to instruct people when he receives a request. A friend who is personal trainer told him that there was no rikishi yet who ran a marathon and proposed that as a goal for him.

He wants more PR for his region: he uses the Shinnosuke rice for the gifts to the guests at the danpatsu-shiki June 25th in the kokugikan, about 300 cutters are expected there - he had used Shinnosuke rice gifts also at his wedding in Feb. 2020. Consulting with local JA, they had local designer SakoKazunari design the gift wrap, onigiri style. http://www.niigata-nippo.co.jp/articles/-/231351

It's only 15 months since he announced his intai, ffs! How much weight has he lost?

I know he's not the first ex-rikishi to shed his fighting weight, but it's still astonishing.
