The 2 developed a fever on the evening of the 11th and were found positive late at night. The day 1 and 2 torikumi for makushita and below that had been announced had to be rescheduled (warikaeshi), juryo and above torikumi are unaffected. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20220312/k10013527821000.html

Onoe-beya was kyujo last Haru as well, when Otowayama was infected https://www.sanspo.com/article/20220312-KJRMLACQHZKVHDDRDGQJSRZ6X4/

The 2 other oyakata of the heya had not yet been contacted at the time of the report (Shibatayama). The shisho was of course in close contact and has to go kyujo, the other 2 may get lucky, if they stayed out of the heya

Today it’s Kagayaki’s turn to test positive to the virus. Hanakago Oyakata (ex- Daijuyama) as well.

I guess Kagayaki is depressed following his return performance.

I wonder if that made him more vulnerable due to a depressed system?

Why was this guy ranked at the same banzuke slot three(!) times in a row?

I understand that the entire Kokonoe-beya contingent sat out the January tournament due to Covid.  However, Chiyosenshi (current Chiyofuku) also missed the March tournament without any banzuke penalty.  His subsequent return to action (at the same rank) in May of last year saw him winless.  Long Covid?  Hospitalized?

Must have created something for Kagayaki. [subconcious sympathetic syndrome] ;-)

Somehow he managed not to get dropped to J

Yes,  after a lower-ranked rikishi in his stable came positive, and Ichinojo got retested and he was also positive, as this is so close to the basho now, he will be kyujo

Any info about his absence, if it will be a whole basho or just for some days...? (Scratchingchin...)
