Atenzan Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) zensho-kachikoshi/ zensho de kachikoshi: 4 wins (toriteki) or 8 wins (sekitori) without a single loss to begin a honbasho: a related term (kyukin-naoshi) already in the glossary is missing its definition. zannensho: consolation win dohyo no bi: beauty of the dohyo Edited July 19, 2016 by McBugger
Asashosakari Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) zensho-kachikoshi: 4 wins (toriteki) or 8 wins (sekitori) without a single loss to begin a honbasho.I think this is usually referred to as ストレート給金, straight kyūkin "straight wage (payment)", at least for sekitori. The glossary has the related term kyūkin naoshi 給金直し "wage adjustment", which is the generalized idiom for achieving the KK-clinching win. Edited July 19, 2016 by Asashosakari 1
Atenzan Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) Hmm... I've definitely picked up the term zensho-kachikoshi in NHK broadcasts of previous basho. I'll take your word on this. Edited July 19, 2016 by McBugger
Naganoyama Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I've also heard zensho kachi-koshi used. Not sure where.
Akinomaki Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) I'm used to zensho de kachi-koshi, maybe the shorter version as one term is more recent (unless it's zensho, kachi-koshi) Edited July 19, 2016 by Akinomaki
Asashosakari Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 (unless it's zensho, kachi-koshi)I wouldn't be surprised if that's it.
Yamasanzan Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Sifting through some videos, I couldn't hear that phrase. The by far most common was: nakabi kachikoshi...(or maybe: nakabi, kachikoshi)

shimodahito Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Good day. Thanks Asojima. However the glossary on you link was last updated in 2005. I know there have been many glossary updates since.... so hopefully we can get a button on this new site (just like the old site) and pop open the latest glossary version. .... and the link to the database.... and the link to the NSK site ..... and have the clock! -shimodahito ...
