How'd you guys feel about Baruto's loss by Henka? People seem to hate the move but to me such graceful tricks add to the mental aspect of the sport. You have to not only out maneuver and power your opponent, but also out think them.

I can highly recommend the bout Jokoryo - Satoyama at day 5, all three minuts of it. Epic battle, the slightly weaker Rikishi in a slightly advantageous position. Also a great ending.

I thought as much but from the Kyokai feed angle it's impossible to tell. It's the second time this basho where Osh should have at least had the benefit of a monoii.

Boy that gyoji was impatient wasn't he? They couldn't pause for two seconds before he'd shout hakyoi at them. It got quite annoying after the first minute.

I thought Tokitenku was a total dick today in side stepping Tochinoshin. No reason for that especially since Tochinoshin is doing very well and you never know how long he would have stayed undefeated. If he snuck in a win on a yokozuna, it could have happened, but it's too late now. I know it's legal, but I think its bs and I wish they would make side stepping illegal. I also didn't like Sadanofuji basically grabbing his opponent by the throat to push him out.

I used to feel exactly the same way but then i started to like it because i realised smaller rikishi could have more of a chance then, i saw some old Mainoumi bouts and he would just stand up like a squirrel without even doing a tachi-ai, he'd then follow up with some amazing Sumo, which wouldn't have happened had he met the tachi-ai head on and got blasted out the ring, i like Tokitenku when i never used to because he's a little like the villain in the pantomine and he doesn't hurt anyone, look-out, Tokitenku's behind you! Or is he in front? Or to the side? Hehe.

My day 6 highlights :

S : Goeido - Tochiozan

M : Tochinoshin - Aran

J : Takanoiwa - Homarefuji

Ms : Osunaarashi - Irie

Sd : Hamaguchi - Fujinoumi

Osunaarashi won after a mono-i. The gyoji had pointed to Irie, who tried an utchari. The shimpan had the objection that they may have both gone out at the same time. The result of the conference: gyoji sashi-chigai, Osunaarashi won. In the lower divisions the shimpan don't name the rikishi, just say east/west side rikishi. Can't they remember the names ?

Very clinical display yesterday by Kakuryu on how to defeat someone who has only one good leg: get a good grip on the mawashi and at the first opening drive against the weak leg. I wouldn't bet that Tochiozan learned anything from it, but there will be other rikishi who are smart enough that they will. I'll be especially interested to see how Aminishiki chooses to address this situation when his opportunity comes.
