All this ozeki talk reminds me of the last year's Hiradoumi debacle. Though in case of Aonishiki it is definitely a lot more justified, he can't keep grabbing legs, and his low stance shenanigans are obviously hard on his back judging by the cupping marks. Sounds like a broken record at this point, but it may be wise to wait another basho before declaring him ozeki.

In a strange twist of fate Tamawashi's theoretical chance at komusubi depends on him losing to Takayasu tomorrow. Should he win, Takayasu stays at komusubi and even winning out to 11-4 does nothing for an extra slot. Should he lose, Takayasu still has a chance of forcing sekiwake and, depending on others, even losing out may be enough to fill an open regular slot.

Thank you as always for a valuable insight, indeed it would be strange to just give out multiple prizes for defeating an underperforming yokozuna. I still hope that Tamawashi doing it might be impressive enough all things considered, especially as he was snubbed in May despite double digits.

And now, by dumping Onosato right into his master's lap for kachikoshi, Tamawashi added another yokozuna to his kinboshi collection and guaranteed himself a shukun-sho all in a neat and stylish package. Well done, Iron Man.

You can search for rikishi debuting in makushita in basho 2 while having 0 wins in basho 1. Now that I caught SumoDB briefly up: what I mean by 0 wins is a win total over 1 basho starting with basho 1 as just inputting it into the form does not work.
