Fujisan suggested I introduce myself over here. I have been a lurker here for a little while. I usually don't post too often. I mainly use this forum as a resource to gather information. I really enjoy the various translations people post. Thank you for taking the time to translate stuff for other people.
I currently live in Japan about an hour out of Tokyo near Tachikawa. I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky. For a while I saw sumo on TV. I really became interested and fell in love with the sport after I went to the Natsu-basho of this year. Now I watch sumo on TV when I can and I plan on going to the current tournament. I have read a few books on sumo and know most general information. This forum helps me stay on current events and covers topics you can not find in books. This will be a very good resource when I leave Japan.
I have a couple favorite rikishi, but currently I am a "mainstream" fan because I am so new to the sport. You will notice that listed under my "Favorite Rikishi" I put: not Asashoryu. I might as well explain this. I think Asa is an excellent and truly amazing athlete. He can pull off some very amazing athletic feats. He is a fierce fighter full of spirit. He is a legend in the making. I am just not a fan of his attitude and how he handles some things, but I deeply respect his skill and ability. I don't want to open a can of worms here. I am just giving my honest opinion.
I don't have a shikona. I didn't really think of one when I made this account. The name I chose is a pretty common name I use. I used to have Cyrus, but usually that is taken so I started using SonofCyrus because that name is the "son" of the original.
Thanks for what you all do to make this a cool forum.
