  1. As a new member of sumoforum, I just want to express my sincere thanks to Madorosumaru and Jonosuke for providing the rikishi quotes. This a wonderful service. (Being unsure...)
  2. A thought about Kokkai's problems becoming the consistent winner many of us want him to be. It was apparent in watching day one: it seems to me his thrusts are what you might call synchronous. That is, he throws out both hands together and then he drops them both to prepare the next thrust and then he throws them both out together again. This gives his opponents a chance to counter him, such as Kotooshu did, moving to the side. Contrast Chiyotakai at his best. He became an Ozeki because he was asynchronous in his thrusting. While his one hand was thrusting, his other hand was preparing the next thrust. His opponents never had that moment in between to respond.
  3. I am one of what I suspect to be many in the U.S. who were basically abandoned by Sumo World Magazine after Clyde Newton took over. Nothing I could do would get them to continue my paid-for subscription. I was delighted to read Sumo Fan Magazine and stand poised ready to subscribe, hoping for a print version down the road. I am grateful to all who are creating this splendid magazine. And I am, as a newcomer to Sumoforum, grateful to all you folks, as well. In the Tallahassee, Florida, area a sumo fan can get awful lonely.
