  1. Has Takanoiwa said anything about having PTSD or is it just Takanohana? I think we've seen plenty of indications that Takanohanas motives are suspect. He seems to have exaggerated everything about the incident.
  2. PTSD from getting banged on the head with a remote control? Not only is that silly, it's an insult to military veterans who have the real thing. I'm more inclined to think that Takanohana is just making stuff up.
  3. So nice to see Hakuho looking strong . I hope he doesn't re-injure a toe in the next basho, tendons and ligaments can take forever to really heal.
  4. I still like Tochinoshin for the win. Strong as usual, not so fat as to make himself clumsy, and his injuries don't seem to be bothering him. I just don't see kakuryu lasting the whole basho.
  5. I believe Hakuho's big toe ligaments are damaged, although it's hard to know for sure from everything I've read on this board. Pulling too hard can cause a ligament to pull off a chip of bone, weakening the connection point. If so, ligaments don't have much blood supply so are notoriously slow to heal, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he missed this basho.
  6. Toschinoshin for the win again. I'm assuming this won't t be enough for yokozuna consideration, does he need two wins as an ozeki?
  7. Someone has to win the bashos. I suspect that Hakuho is not done yet, he won't let a toe injury stop him, but if he falters, we may see some new Yokozuna.
  8. Tochinoshin for the win. Kakuryu and Goeido will just have to settle for second and third.
  9. I never thought of that but you must be right, I do recall something about "anything touching other than the sole of the foot".
  10. I see a gap between the heel and the ground on this shot. However, when I paused the slow motion replay , it looked to me like the heel did touch the ground.
  11. It doesn't seem possible to fight with two injured big toes, especially if you're a yokozuna and have to fight against the top guys. I expect him to withdraw. However, it is Hakuho , so you never know.
  12. I'm thinking maybe Kise is over the hump with his win today, getting some of his Yokozuna confidence back. I hope so anyway.
  13. I think there are a lot of people who would like to see Hakuho falter, to see him give up something of his dominant position. The bar is set so high that simply not winning this basho would provide hope to those people. I am not one of them, I want him to win this basho and prove, yet again, that he is still The Man. If he can do it without the slapping and arm bars, so much the better. As to his being chubby, he is listed at 156 kilos, isn't that his normal weight?
  14. Yes, it's crazy to have a move legal, but then shame a yokozuna into not using it. If you don't like it, make it illegal for everyone.
  15. You really have to love Hakuhos style, so casual. If he is able to win the basho without his usual tachiai he will again be The Man.
  16. He seems to be healthier now, I predict he will come in second to Hakuho.
