  1. I like your pictures! Thank you for posting them. And welcome to the forum, of course. (Exercising...) I haven't been here long myself, but everyone here is very friendly.
  2. ;-) I couldn't have said it better myself! (Applauding...)
  3. This is very sad. I hope Hayateumi is able to recover.
  4. These are WONDERFUL; the new format is a great improvement!!! It makes a huge difference for me, since this site is pretty much the only way I can see the matches (I only have crappy dialup from home so no stream for me, but I can watch the movies at work (if the boss isn't around!)) (Shaking head...) (Shaking head...)
  5. Nah, all but the most drunk and/or stupid fans know it is more entertainment than fight. That's why it is called 'World Wrestling Entertainment', and they call the industry 'sports entertainment'. Fans can go and watch people beat the crap out of each other and know that nobody is REALLY getting hurt. (Hitting with chair...) And I was always partial to Rowdy Roddy Piper... And Kevin Nash ;-)
  6. Thanks! *tosses some salt* Um, I have nothing else to say, so I guess I lose the verbal tachiai. Maybe I can just make scary noises: RAAAAR! ;-)
  7. This is probably a dumb question, but people gamble on sumo matches in Japan, right? I'm curious, because I've seen several news articles mention that gambling on the results of the koen won't be allowed. I thought that was odd, since I was under the impression that people in Japan bet on sumo all the time. Maybe the organizers are just trying to distance themselves from the more sleazy side of Vegas? ;-)
  8. I thought it was a pretty good translation! (Punk rocker...) Thanks for posting this interesting interview.
  9. You don't have to stay at Mandalay Bay. Luxor is right next door (in fact, they are connect by a skywalk) and is much less expensive. I think that is probably where we are going to stay. There are tons of other hotels nearby, so another one might have better prices.
  10. I'm not pleased they are banning cameras...very lame, like it is a concert or play. I mean, is the whole place going to be dark? Would a camera flash really distract anybody? I can't speak specifically to Mandalay, but a lot of venues are pretty strict about enforcing the rules. On the other hand, cameras are getting smaller and smaller these days... (Punk rocker...) Probably a discreet person could take a few pictures without getting caught. And I'm also very confused as to why the Mandalay web site doesn't list the event. I know you can call their ticket office and get tickets that way, but why wouldn't they even put it on their calendar?
  11. You are so cruel to pick on your poor (and very pale, by the way...sun, what's the sun?) sister like that!! :'-( :-D It's nice out today, now that spring is here, but I'm stuck inside working. Allegedly, yes, but I am fairly certain I am adopted! ;-) Side note to everyone who is not my brother: most kids tease their siblings by saying the sibling is adopted, but we always did it differently. We teased each other by saying that the other was our parents' natural child and we were the adopted one, because our parents are so weird! :-)
  12. Hi everyone. Thanks for all the welcomes and for the information about the user id I picked here. I just used it here because I use it somewhere else online, and it is easy for me to remember. Jonosuke, thank you for the information and the url. Some of the photos are absolutely beautiful!
  13. Hi, thanks! Where are you on the east coast? Heh. Unfortunately, I only have dialup. I can get a much faster connection from work; now all I have to do is move to the night shift! Does NSK archive the feed, or any parts of it? I've watched a lot of the individual matches on banzuke.com, but it isn't the same; they're over so fast (though I LOVE that it is available... SUMO WITH ENGLISH COLOR COMMENTARY, I might be in heaven!)
  14. I don't know any Japanese apart from the odd sumo-relateed word, but luckily the language of smileys is universal! Thank you for the welcome. ;-)
  15. Hi there. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I've been lurking around here for the past day or two, reading everything I can because I'm fascinated by sumo. My brother started watching sumo a few years ago, and whenever I visited him or he visited me, he forced me to watch sumo until I liked it! Though I recall that didn't take very long... (Punk rocker...) My favorite rikishi is Kokkai, though I am happy to watch pretty much any sumo. I live near Detroit, Michigan, in the US. I wish we got sumo on television here! I tend to observe a lot on forums like this, and just soak up all the information I can. I've already learned a great deal here, so thanks! (Sign of approval)
