Could you please point me towards the source(s) for these rules? I've never seen them codified in such fashion, thanks. Could you expand on the statistics for the use of the "dead-body" rule and also why it can mostly be ignored? Again, thanks, in advance.

He seems to have adjusted his tachiai (and follow-up), especially yesterday and today, staying lower longer, thus generating more power and less easy access to his mawashi.. In any case, he looks better, mentally if not physically, let's see where that does get him...

Oh don't get me started on youth ! Man that clip put me right back, the aguish and the relief when he finally pushed Akebono down... I would totally agree with you on the general feeling, I liked him and wanted him to get the rope and wasn't convinced he would do it! At least he had one bout, and victory obviously, against one of the the 3 Yokozuna!! Sumo in the 90s was amazing!! Great memories!

Just a question for Kintamayama, regarding Musashimaru, in the flow of the conversation you mention "with everyone around..." I don't know if you mean us, the fans (thinking he wouldn't do it) or you mean all the big guns (Takanohana/Akebono) like Goeido will have to face this basho? If it's the latter it's not really the case, I remember the feeling back then having cheered for Musa for years, thinking this is the perfect "storm" (I think Akebono missed the first basho and Takanohana dropped out, and Wakanohana, well....) filled with hope but also dread it could break him, if he couldn't take advantage... I'm not as optimistic as you about Goeido, though it would really be great to see! Anyway, thanks again to you three, really hope you'll have another soon!

Here is the official explanation for Hakuho's under performance: Hakuho tripped his left toe days ago thus his toe is injured. He couldn't beat Kisenosato yesterday and can't beat Harumafuji today, all because of that injured toe. Kisenosato has to beat Goeindou to keep his tsuna-run alive. I think Hakuho is actually nursing/hiding other injuries, for instance he hasn't really used his right hand as he would normally, in a couple of bouts (Takarafuji springs to mind) he kept it close to himself, next to his belly, when he could/should have gone for a mawashi or an arm. Anyway the way he has used it this basho doesn't feel natural to me...

i guess the hakuho-part is just plain kidding by you Which part? If Hakuho doesn't exist (or say, got a career-ending injury 5 years ago), Harumafuji would probably get 20 or so yushos by now, which would make him a dai-yokozuna. Then again, if Hakuho doesn't exist, we would be looking at a vastly different ozumo, rikishis and everything right now, with the butterfly effect thingy and whatnotWhat I'm trying to say is that Harumafuji is a damn fine yokozuna which unfortunately gets the short end of the stick from Lady Luck by being active in the same era as the uber-superhuman that is Hakuho. It's all speculation but I highly doubt that he would be the case ... In the 18 completed basho s a Yokozuna he averages 4 losses, and beats Hakuho maybe 2 out of 5 times. There are more basho where he conceded 3 kinboshi (4) than ones here he gave none away (3). He's a great fighter with plenty of talent (as evidenced by today's bout), but he's too inconsistent, he doesn't "dominate" the lower ranked wrestlers like a dai yokozuna would. Just my 2 cents ;-)

Hakuhō is not going to lose to a henka. Kisenosato only henka’d once in his whole career as far as I know, it was pretty recent though (like, last tournament). Well there's been a couple instances when he has lost to a henka, so its not impossible -- No need to go that far back... The last 2 victories from Harumafuji over Hakuho were henka-ish... In November Harumafuji jumped so far left at the tachiai he almost landed on the gyoji's lap!

Unless the situation is grave enough to end up in a trial. In this case, if all 5 or any subpart of those 5 rikishi are judged guilty, I think that they could be expelled from kyokai Guys and guyesses, It's pretty clear that there is only one person on this list who really knows what is going on. It appears that he is going behind the scenes to try to sort things out. Why don't we just shut up and wait for him to give us the real skinny? Orion Seconded...! "give us the real skinny", ha! I think he, Isegahama, made a few comments on his twitter account (@nISEGAHAMA) about it... Unfortunately I can't quite understand, I'm sure someone can help :-)
