  1. That jacket was awesome!
  2. I guess no one told Mitakeumi that Chyootori can literally not be hatakikomi'd.
  3. And the gyoji is clearly looking at the feet...His view of Okinoumi's arm hitting was blocked by Hakuho's leg. I don't think that's relevant though with Hakuho clearly landing on top of Okinoumi. The only explanation I can find for the error is that he thought Hakuho stepped out, but he's clearly looking at it... So I don't know. A bad moment I guess..
  4. And the gyoji is clearly looking at the feet...
  5. Do you mind if I steal one of these for my profile pic?
  6. some minutes ago i heard the commentators say on the englich broadcast that the error was because hakuho used to fight from the east-side for so long and the gyoji pointed to his usual side :-S I mean... even if true, that's still a big mistake...
  7. When you get close to stepping out I would think the first thing you would be looking at were the feet... (Thinking in depth...) It also doesn't really make sense.. If he was not watching the feet then why would he make a decision that Hakuho stepped out?
  8. Wow, that sucks. It's like a 3-day seppuku. Although his miss-call on the Hakuho vs Okinoumi was indeed surprisingly bad..
  9. Agreed, he is quite good, isn't he? Hmm, let's not make a quick decision on that.. we'll see how he does tomorrow :-D
  10. That was pretty awesome by Hakuho though..
  11. Not sure about that.. Seemed to me he rather stepped out than to use the right knee to defent..
  12. Can't believe Endo didn't get injured there. That fall looked nasty.
  13. That's pretty safe to predict: Goeido if makekoshi, otherwise the komusubi with the better KK record, or Tochinoshin if both have the same. If Tochinoshin doesn't get the promotion because Goeido goes MK, I'll lose it...
  14. Tochinoshin needed his best to force out the wounded Terunofuji. Teru is a beast for sure, hope he'll get fit again soon.
  15. Hakuho, wow... glad it wasn't Kakuryu...
  16. Ah, Tochinoshin, can't wait for the day to come when you pick up some wins in the first week as well. Good effort though!
  17. I really hope Terunofuji goes home if and as soon as he gets his KK.
  18. The top four are all walking wounded. This basho started as a good opportunity for Kisenosato to do the Japanese breakthrough, but he has already started his meltdown routine. Now, it is ???Yoshikaze?!?!? at 33 yoa. Well, he would be the obvious candidate but it's just so damn hard to imagine..... :-) Let's see how he does tomorrow.. I would absolutely lose my shit if Yoshikaze took the yusho. He has been one of my favourites since I came back to sumo in 2010 and it would be awesome to see him take the yusho. Maybe a late career ozeki run as well?!? While I can't see either happening a man can dream... maybe if he gets over the Geek today I'll really start to believe it. As Kintamayama said yesterday on his video digest these wins aren't flukes, he is genuinely matching it with the top guys and beating them fair and square Yes, I was thinking about Kintamayama's quote too... But somehow it still feels like the longest fluke ever. I'm happy for him though and hope he can keep this momentum going. I don't know much about the man but somehow he seems like a nice guy.

  20. I'm not convinced by Hakuho at all and would be surprised if he didn't pick up two or three losses the way he looks. Same goes for the other two yokozuna, so no idea who's going to take home this one. Here's hoping for a surprise winner.
  21. Probably number 5 at this point but yeah, nothing wrong with that.
  22. Tourette's...? Is this for real? I haven't noticed..
  23. Thanks for the pics!
  24. This is the best thread ever!
  25. As we have seen in the near past, Tochinoshin is guaranteed NOTHING. Well, why then did they put him against Kyokutenho on Day 15 (and Gagamaru on Day 14, who was MK at the time), when they normally would have him fighting against the other candidates for sanyaku? Purposefully so that when he won they could say that he doesn't deserve the promotion because he beat a bunch of weaklings, even though they themselves were the ones who gave him those opponents? It seems much, much, much more likely that they wanted to effectively guarantee him the KK to make up for having to deny him the spot last time. Yes, and for the non promotion with that 13-2 Juryo yusho. They have a lot of making up to do.. I really don't know why anything was planned. I can only guess regarding Kyokutenhou that they hoped he would bring all he had for the last time and find some inner strength and beat Tochinoshin. After all, his yusho came out of the blue as well back then. As for Gagamaru as an opponent, that was a complete farce of course. I just know Tochinoshin gets screwed over time and again. Or maybe they just wanted someone against Kyokutenho who wouldn't just grant him a parting gift. (sorry, wanted to reply to the post before)
