  1. Thanks for the advice, but I'm perfectly happy to watch it in Japanese wthout subtitles.
  2. In Japanese. I enjoyed it without understanding what they were saying. A lot of discussion, interviews, bouts, public opinion 38 mins. Kitanofuji, Mainoumi, Kotoshogiku, Goueidou, Kisenosato, Satoyama, Ishiura, Ura and others.
  3. 24 minutes all in Japanese about Hakuho. Seems to contrast his career with another Mongolian rikishi, now retired whose face I remember, but not his name.
  4. Nice to meet you. I'm rubbish at memorising names of kimarite and whatnot too.
  5. Nice to meet you.
  6. Benvenuto from Paris. Nice to meet you.
  7. Published on YouTube 24/11/16 34:47 min but starts repeating itself in the middle all in Japanese. アメリカ人 武蔵川親方(元横綱 武蔵丸) 部屋設立奮闘記 (American yokozuna Musashimaru became a boss)
  8. A very belated but sincere welcome to you.
  9. Welcome to the forum.
  10. Nice to meet you, welcome.
  11. Greetings from Paris.
  12. Yes guys, does anybody know what it really is? It does look like a giant macaron ...
  13. Speaking as a teacher, no it's not, but you wouldn't think so from certain students' attitude. I know where your coming from.
  14. Bonne année à toi!
  15. Looks as if we'll all have to stoically wait. It exists on DVD and I think you can rent it from Google Play too if you're desperate.
  16. Erm ... well. Thank you.
  17. It's in the 'You've got to laugh' thread under 'Japan-Japanese Discussions' - buried by now, so it'll be seen by more people here. :)
  18. and the same to you Swami and many more
  19. Well, I'd have been scared to get in with Aioyama too.
  20. Would make a good Christmas cake. Have a good one Akinomaki (couldn't find another way to get a message to you, your inbox seems full). Bons baisers de Paris
  21. Awww, You remember what I said. I thought you never noticed me!
  22. Many happy returns Jim.
  23. For francophones and/or people who just like to watch; the French version of 'A Normal Life: Chronicle of a Sumo Wrestler' that Inhashi posted on October 18. This version is good quality, shorter (55min), but contains some scenes not in the version Inhashi posted. The opening frames with gorgeous Kyukoshuho are there. Second one is in Japanese (just over 26 min). Akebono (with dubious drawing behind his head - seems to be a squid, or something), Wakanohana, another guest and the hostess discussing careers, rivalries etc. Plenty of clips of great bouts. A lot of Akebono v. Takanohana, including when they were very young.
  24. Floated up as an ad on YouTube. I nabbed it. English subtitles http://www.greatbigstory.com/stories/sumo-soup-living-large-with-chanko-nabe screenshot - video wouldn't embed

  25. Post for Kisenosato. Who says he's not good looking? from https://vk.com/wall34512234_3376 and here you can find a lot of excellent black and white photographs of Kise and other rikishi http://www.easterwood.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=slideshow.Slideshow&g2_itemId=2491 He's on a girls' hunk-pix page http://girlschannel.net/topics/98848/ TWICE OK, this one's a caricature, but there's another, and Endou's only on once. There are plenty of other interesting pix there too. More. Artist's page http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/masa_gallery/illust.html More. Artist's page http://y-nrmt.deviantart.com/ And he's got an arty video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw0VcU8sfrc This is a screenshot - YouTube wouldn't let me embed. Enjoy!
