  1. Thank you, Kinta!
  2. The sensitivity is high around here of late...
  3. Guys that enter Sumo dream of being "average" enough to become a Makuuchi mainstay like Kaisei. Perspective...
  4. Brilliant!!
  5. Thanks for pointing that out. I used to think that Teru was simply being a bit lackadaisical at the tachia, but over time came to realize that it was a total mind game. He looks almost nonchalant as he crouches at the shikiri-sen, but as you noted, he usually waits for his opponent to touch first. Baruto used to occasionally employ the same strategy.
  6. Anyone else notice that Hakuho has been avoiding going to the belt? Harumafuji's knee injury seemed pretty apparent today. Wouldn't be surprised to see him withdraw if he suffers another loss or two. Kisenosato is looking solid early. Will he keep it up? If I had to bet... Glad to see Kyokutaisei notch his first win, but methinks he likely won't avoid demotion.
  7. It's a little weird to me that if Hakuho doesn't easily dispatch his opponent in a matter of seconds, it gets labeled as "struggling". But rarely is credit given to his opponent. Folks also seem to react violently if he commits a late shove. Harumafuji occasionally does it and so does Kotoshogiku. But with Hakuho, it's like he killed somebody. And yes I get the hinkaku angle, but these guys aren't robots. These are highly competitive men engaged in a combat sport.
  8. The way Kakuryu calmly dispatched Kotoyuki was classic. Seemed almost effortless. I could almost hear Kakuryu saying, "get outta here"...
  9. At best, Kotoyuki grazes the dohyo surface if he touches it all.
  10. Man...I need to just go straight to Kintamaya's YouTube page so that match results don't get SPOILED.
  11. Notice how forcefully Hakuho swung his right forearm toward's Kotoyuki's mug? Looks like Hakuho was aiming to inflict some hurt!
  12. I've heard that there has been talk in the Japanese papers that Hakuho is having a significant issue with his right elbow. He had it pretty well wrapped today.
  13. Please, please, please don't post bout results in this thread. Thanks.

  17. They actually sell those at the basho. I have a couple of 'em.
  18. It's clear that Ikioi somewhat patterns himself after Hakuho, even the way he positions himself at the shikiri-sen. I often refer to Ikioi as "Baby Hak".
  19. I bet you haven't seen that: http://www.saveoursailors.org/sumofinal.html Sailor Moon Sumo! (Laughing...)
  20. I wish I could unsee that....
  21. Anyone planning on attending the May basho? I'm hoping to come back to Tokyo to take in at least 3 or 4 days of it.
  22. Thanks, Naganoyama!
  23. Love it! What is the music source for the Kotobauer morph?
  24. I didn't even realize there was an "Ignore" or "Block" feature! Jeez...
