  4. I would love the next competition to be the UEFA Champions League, but my favorite one is the World Cup. I would in all honesty play a number of the suggested events. (the CL, the WC, the EURO, The Serie A)
  5. Personally I don't really see the Premiership (or any other domestic league) really working duh to the complex and changing and heavy schedule. It would also demand an over average interest in the particular nations top league that I'm guessing is not available. The Olympics should work purely from an scheduler point of view, but as you pointed out is an really "meh" tournament. Not many really cares about it, as it's not even played with the top players. The Champions League could be really successful if the competition starts from first group-stage. As it both a higher level and more international then the domestic league it should be easier to find interested players as-well as the many times better schedule. I can see this one working out really well. The world-cup is no-brainer for me. Works great, and should definitely be played again. But that does not disqualify other events as the World and Euro cup is so seldom played. /Two Cents
  6. 1. I'm all for c) as I find it by far the most balanced of the provided options! Two teams from the same "ranking group" can make the squads unnecessarily 'unbalanced' in my eyes. 2. I'm actually in favor of NO extra team as I find it somewhat deludes the squads and makes the different squads a bit to homogeneous as most players will have more or less the same opinion about the teams strengths after three played games. No extra teams would also make players even more invested in the teams of there squads as they know those are the once they have to put there hope in for the entirety of the competition. The problem with "no teams left to play with" if such would occur, could be solved with simply having more "low and mid ranked teams" in the original squad. Making the entire squad 10, 12 or 14 but with the same number of "top ranked teams" picked for each squad as have been so far (or possibly even less). 3. If we are to have extra team (which I'm not for) I would prefer option c) here as it have the least effect of my above mentioned worries from the provided options. 4. No real opinion here 5. Would obviously be grand, but atleast I got no such skill. Lets hope someone else do. ^^
  7. Congratulations to all the winners of different honors! I most admit that I'm sorry not beeing able to give this competition the dedication it deservers the full time out - as I find the competition absolutely great. I really enjoy both the structure and underlying purpus and is definitely interested in playing in future editions. MANY thanks to all the referees and especially Jejima who has put in an admirable amount of work into this years edition of the Bench EURO/world cup making it both clearer and running smoother then last time around. BIG KUDOS!
  8. My entry with only picking Italy sure is looking cocky with this beeing the result! Good luck to you Jejima. You have one more chance to not get 'dead-last' in your own tournament!
  9. Unfourtunally I'm unable to continue gyoing in the knock out stage as I am right now in the middle of drawn out movingprocess and will not have the time. :-(
  10. Last round of the group play. Time to separate the wheat from the chaff / the men from the boys / the strong from the weak / the sheep from the goats / the immortal from the lowly mortals. First out we have Chabonowaka vs Pitinosato: Chabonowaka 1. Italy 2. © Spain 3. Germany 4. Poland 5. Netherlands 6. Croatia 7. ® Denmark Chabonowaka received the journalists at his mansion and gave the following statement during the exquisite ten course dinner: "Well the 2nd round didn't go as well as i had hoped, but i placed my team pretty well. no losers on top of winners. just i didn't have enough winners. italy is a win-and-in, so they get the top slot. spain won't know yet, so they should still bring their good game, so they get 2. germany makes sense next, but i struggled with slots 4 and 5. i probably made the dumb choice, but the dutch have been killing me." Pitinosato 1. Russia 2. France 3. ® Germany 4. Poland 5. Croatia 6. Greece 7. © Ireland Pitinosato sent in his entry early. Even before the start of round 2: "Here we go, without knowing the results of the 2. Round, after the Greec's debacle they are a little lower in my ranking... :)" Gyoji comment about the match: Poland gets removed at slot 4. This match feels extremly open as I feel Russia, Germany, France, Italy and Spain having about the same chance to get a win in the last round. Personally I would say Italy and France are the strongest cards in the bunch but not by a huge margin. Second match out is Pandaazuma vs XaioTan: Pandaazuma 1. Germany 2. Netherlands 3. Czech Republic 4. ® Portugal 5. © Croatia 6. Ukraine 7. Ireland In the Pandaazuma camp, the tones are still gloomy as we got the following statement from one of the assisting coaches dressed solely in black: "Another nightmare. Only Germany looks a clear winner here, but I reckon the Dutch might wake up - they'll have to attack after all. My opponent has an advantage with Italy in his team against the woeful Ireland as well as Germany so I am very much the underdog here again. My best chance of progressing looks to be snatching a draw and hoping the other match is not a draw." XiaoTan 1. Italy 2. Czech 3. Germany 4. ® Netherlands 5. © Greece 6. Ukraine 7. Ireland XaioTan was unable to send a new entry for round two but managed to send the following message via trained falcons: "Oh well , and I completely forgot and i am traveling - I stick to my round 2 lineup for round 3 please. Can't get any worse" Gyoji comment about the match: XaioTan's entry from week 2 acually works suprisingly well and could be a tall obstacle for Pandaasuma to surmount. In the first spot Germany is obviously the stronger team compaired to Denmark but do they have the will to take 3 p? 1 p is good enough for the Germans to secure the first place in the group while the Danes will fight tooth and nails for their survival. Italy should be the "safest" win in the the whole round as they are levels over Ireland while they have everything to play for and Ireland nothing but pride. Our dedicated representativs from the cheat-checking institution would like to make clear that all the players have gone through rigid tests and have come out clean, white and shining yet a third time. The Gyoji would also like to hand out a thanks to those players in group B's that managed to send in early and full entries once more. EDIT: Pitinosato sent in an updated lineup just in time!
  11. -1. Thank you! Good eyes! Changed!
  12. Aww, I wish you conceded and gave me the default-win. You have a nice, strong team Jakusotsu. It was a well deserved win.
  13. Round number two is in the books. Final standing Round 2 - Group B Chabonowaka - Pandaazuma 1 - 2 Chabonowaka keeps his chain alive longer but is unable too get back on equal terms with Pandaazuma who scored two quick goals with a brave ® Portugal pick and a slot #2 pick filled with trust in the solid German squad leaving them both on 3p in total. XaioTan - Pitinosato 1 - 0 XaioTan scores the only goal he needed with a strongly placed Czech Republic thanks to greece knocking off the chain of Pitinosato before it even got going. This result leaves both these two players with 3 points aswell making the table completely open with only one round to go! That gives the current standing in Group B (Rank. Name | points | goal difference) 1. Chabonowaka | 3p | +2 2. Pitinosato | 3p | +1 3. Pandaazuma | 3p | -1 4. XaioTan | 3p | -2 PS. Dont forget to send your entries for round 3. I have already recived the entries for round 3 from Chabonowaka and Pitinosato (provisorial). Awaiting the selections from XaioTan and Pandaazuma. Edit: "Eagle-eyes" Asashosakari quickly spotted that the goaldifference was wrong on Pandaazuma. Changed now! :-)
  14. There is a difference, maybe even in U.S.A. as delayed refers to a delayed start while suspended refers to a match which already has started. The match was under way for four minutes and was resumed an hour after the planned kickoff (with 41 minutes played until half time). In American Baseball, they call there pauses caused by rain: "rain delay", regardless if the match had already started or not. It could just be Americans taking liberties with the meanings of words, they have been known to do so. (Especially in sports)
  15. Alright. That is unfourtunate.
  16. Haha thank you! I think I might be in for a loss this week tho if Ireland or Croatia dont deliver far above my expectations.
  17. More overrated player is hard to find. He's rubbish under preasure and VERY rarley delivers under preasure or when its really needed. Also often fails to deliver versus good defenders. (Altho he obviously is exellent when theres no preasure and vs worse defenders) He's one of the most frequent flippers in the game, and boosts an negative attitude that very often seams to drag down the team as a whole. (Especially in the national team where for some unexplainable reason he is the CAPTAIN!) As you can tell - I'm unable to stay calm and neutral when viewing Christina. I'm sorry if I offeded anyone.
  18. In halftime - I feel like a genius.
  19. Depends, do you have a big pair of glasses? (The match was never 3-1)
  20. Haha, yeah figured. Nice, all you have to put down is the "value" of each individual team's preformance for every player?
  21. Very intresting stuff Asashosakari. Did you do it manually or do u have some sort of program or tool to ease the workload? Obviously, I'm very pleased with my team in round 1. I fear that this round may have been the highlight of the tournament for my part. Every single matchup was great for my team. Also I really wish that my acual match in round one was against Jejima - I could have helt that 5 - 0 over him for a long time! :-P
  22. Pitinosato almost got his miracle! Greece seams extremly slowstarted this tournament - is it becase of there age?
  23. Round one is now in the books, and our valiant players hardly get to breathe before we toss them right back into the flames. First out we have Chabonowaka vs Pandaazuma: Chabonowaka 1. © Spain 2. Italy 3. Germany 4. Netherlands 5. Poland 6. ® Denmark 7. Croatia Chabonowaka managed to share a quick analysis before scamping back to the still ongoing celebration after the first rounds victories (for both Chabonowaka and his ® Denmark): "This looks a lot more treacherous than did the first round. but in this round my Spain should get me off to a good start, and after that it should be just as much trouble for my opponent as it is for me. so my hopes are high. go me!" Pandaazuma 1. ® Portugal 2. Germany 3. Netherlands 4 Ukraine 5. Czech Republic 6. © Croatia 7. Ireland The mentality in the Pandaazuma camp is quite the opposite as can be convened from the comment Pandaazuma delivered at the press conference earlier: "Oh dear, is all I can say here. I can see only one possible winner, and the rest all draws or losses, so I'm going to bank it all on Portugal and hope for a bit of luck!" Gyoji comment about the match: This one could very easily be decided right out the gate. An extremly aggressive ® placement by Pandaazuma is an impressively sharp "all or nothing move". Second match out is XaioTan vs Pitinosato: XiaoTan 1. Italy 2. Czech 3. Germany 4. ® Netherlands 5. © Greece 6. Ukraine 7. Ireland XaioTan spent the week training the mental hardness of his players so he could give the hungering journalists this comment without them going all soft in the legs: "After the first round Netherland flop - everyone is facing himself this round, so plenty of draws please :-)" Pitinosato 1. Greece 2. Russia 3. ® Germany 4. France 5. Croatia 6. Poland 7. © Ireland Reporters was pleased to see that Pitinosato had recovered from his nasty cold in time to give the following interview before game #2: "My bad cold is over, so I'm ready talk again. A little... A good start is always very important in such a Tournament. So I did ! And now look from Match to Match, but I'm confident to reach the quarter finals !" Gyoji comment about the match: Intricate match up, with the ® game Netherlands vs Germany as the most likely to be the deciding factor altho both chains could easily break earlier if things dont go there way. Special credit to Pitinosato's slot 1 pick Greece, a gutsy play but could very well be showed to be a genius-move. Our dedicated representativs from the cheat-checking institution would like to make clear that all the players have gone through rigid tests and have come out clean, white and shining yet again. The sportsmanship in group B is impeccable. The Gyoji would also like to hand out a thanks to those players in group B's that managed to send in early entries, it is always extra appriciated! The Gyoji is also thankfull for the media-friendly attitude displayed by the players in group B as all four were reachable for pregame comments!
  24. Dont be, you spotted the misstake in the first one. :-D
