  1. Ama certainly looks the goods.....Ozeki promotion in the offing?.....Im tipping him to be the next Yokozuna.....Asa didnt look real flash today, as much of a fan as I am I can see Intai coming, I hope not becasue i think if he gets his head in the right space he could be a force for many years to come......
  2. I was impressed by how mean Hakuho was....very nice....my only disappointment is that i have to work the next 4 nights and so i will miss those bouts....
  3. Well, I just finsihed watching my first live basho via the grainy live feed.....if i wasnt hooked before I am now! I only logged on i time to watch the final 8 bouts but it was great to watch them. Good to see Asashoryuu get up on the first day but i tell you Hakuho looks mighty mean! The way he imperiously disposed of Asasekiryu was great. All i can say is thanks for the link to the live feed and i look forward to the fortnight....
  4. I am a high school History and Social Science teacher.....

  6. Thanks guys....yeah i know about Kotooshu the labelling is by the gril that posted the images ....not my piccy.....Nishinoshima has indeed already contacted me ! which is not so good for my wallet.....i am tempted by so much Sumo memorabilia!....what other stuff do they have?
  7. A couple of years ago a friend of mine came back from Japan with a small gift for me, it was a keyring of Musashimaru. now at the time i wasnt into sumo and it was a novelty item which i am happy to say i still own. How can i get a hold of some more of these? here is a link to some of Asa and Hakuho. http://picasaweb.google.com/aimee.terauchi...223744694488210 living in Australia I cant get to the bashos myself to get them so i wanted to know if there was some other way to get a hold of them?
  8. Seems to be pointing more and more to intai, i hope not i think he will be missed.....
  9. Who do you think has the ability to step up and become the next Yokozuna?.....Out of the current Ozeki I think Kotooshu is the only one young enough to be able to do it, the other i fell are beyond their prime....but i am only a rookie when it comes to following Sumo so i would be very interested to hear more informed opinions than mine.....
  10. Yes....at times like this i wish i could read Japanese.....my library would be vast!.......i have seen the biography of Chad Rowan in english but i havent bought it as yet here is a linky http://www.amazon.com/Gaijin-Yokozuna-Biog...7238&sr=8-8
  11. Greetings all! My name is Jason and I am a 37 year old school teacher here in Sydney. I have always been fascinated in Japanese culture and History since i did an assignment on samurai in 3rd grade (age of about 8) Only recently have i read more into Sumo and I have been bitten by the bug! Sumo to me , is a wondeful snapshot of Japanese culture and also the clash of tradition versus modern globalisation (am I right is saying that the only 2 Yokozuna active at the current time are Mongolian?) So i am really keen to learn more about this amazing sport and hope you will forget my rookie status and I look forward to discussing Sumo with you all!
