Does that mean that despite his severe injury and his total lack of preparation, Endo will be entering the basho? Yikes! If this is true, apparently having common sense and caring about the health and future careers of his rikishis are not necessarily qualifications for being an oyakata. (Sign of disapproval...)

It appears to be so, at least for right now.

West Jonidan #25 Ogifuji

Long-serving Ogifuji has retired, and has apparently secured a position in the Kyokai's maintenance department. He made his debut in 1993 and was Aminishiki's tsukebito for many years. His danpatsu-shiki will take place on senshuraku at Isegahama-beya's post-basho party.

Chiyootori has withdrawn according to the NSK site; he is not on the torikumi for Day 3.

Same left knee injured day 15 last basho.

2 weeks recovery needed.

That's Chiyootori down to Juryo for next basho then.

Didn't look good. Knee crumpled early when not much pressure being applied.

Notozakura have his danpatsu on Senshuraku. :-(

And we'll never know who he actually is, if he is Notozakura.

These 3 guys should know more:

Dan, Pat & Sue

;-)

Geeze.. Damn it! They should do sumo in hospital, not in the Kokugikan. We almost can start counting the healthy instead of the injured...

Sokokurai out from Day 5.

Concussion and right eye orbital bone fracture, 2 weeks.

For completeness, Chiyootori was diagnosed with meniscus damage.

Strange thing was Sokokurai was holding his right elbow after the bout. go figure.

Actually his eye was closed and walking up the hanamichi he was cupping his eye, which was bleeding.

I just read that the fracture Sokokurai suffered is in the medial wall of his right eye socket.

Day 8 Late

West Maegashira 3 OSUNAARASHI has withdrawn from the tournament.

Fractured left shoulder blade. According to Sports Hochi he just might want to rejoin if the pain subsides, but Otake seems to lean towards a kyujo for the rest of the basho.
