*Haridashi is the term given to a Yokozuna who is ranked belowed the top two (ie there must be at least 3 Yokozuna on the banzuke for this to occur).

Please note that the 3rd question is for Yushos AND Jun-Yushos. In other words, how many bashos will he be a key-factor in the Yusho race.

Last year he won 4 yushos, no Jun-Yushos , but was promoted to Yokozuna.

My answer is related to my view of Asashory's performance in the other poll.

I go for 4 yushos and 6 Yushos+Jun-yushos.

If no major injury, of course.

I see a vote now for "Haridashi" position. My guess is someone must be predicting Yokozunahood for Kotomitsuki or Baruto? :-D

Or maybe Kitanofuji can come out of retirement ;-)

I'll go with 3 yusho and 5 Y+J for Hakuho...same thing I'd say for Asashoryu, coincidentally enough. :-D

I said the same for Hakuho, with only 2 yusho for Asashoryu and one for Ama to seal his Ozeki promotion! (as stated elsewhere)

He DOES look very fit on the NHK broadcasts. :-D He's 65 and looks 50.

Well, it looks as if Hakuho is expected to remain Yokozuna by the end of this year, but we are fairly split on whether he will be the East Yokozuna or the West.

We expect him to win 2 or 3 yusho (a little under our expectations for Asashoryu). But it looks as though we expect him to be a factor in most of the year's bashos.

Poll now closed.

Hakuho will be (unless something very weird happens) the East Yokozuna in January 2009. So, half of us were correct. (Clapping wildly...)

Hakuho won 3 yushos in 2008 - so a little better than the poll predicted, and he won a yusho or Jun-Yusho in EVERY basho in 2008 (so again a little better than the overall predictions).

In fact, he had a great year as a Yokozuna.

This was his record in 2008....

Jan - 14-1: Yusho

Mar - 12-3: Jun-Yusho (Asashoryu 13-2)

May - 11-4: Jun-Yusho (Kotooshu 14-1)

Jul - 15-0: Yusho (his second zensho yusho)

Sep - 14-1: Yusho

Nov - 13-2: Yusho

How will he do in 2009? New poll to follow soon....
