madorosumaru Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Asashoryu: (Winning convincingly over Kotoshogiku) I guess everything is going according to "my pace." Kotoshogiku: (Describing the futility of it all) I thought if I could only get an uwate with my right, I could do something . . . Kitanoumi Rijicho: (Showing he remembers some of his junior high science) If one uses his hip properly, the nage would work well. [Ryu] made good use of the centrifugal force. More Ryu: (Asked inevitably about his elbow) There wasn't any pain. After all, I did let go [with my right] at the end. Even more Ryu: (Discussing Shogiku, whom he sparred with in high school) I need to approach [these bouts] with the attitude of "If you want a piece of me, come and get me." Tochinohana: (Winning four in a row) I am moving really well. When it is this hot, you sweat a lot so you feel as though you really accomplished something during keiko. I am going after [my first] kachi-kishi of this year. Tokitenku: (Stepping out of the ring first, ending his winning streak) Well, these things happen. "Consecutive wins" don't mean anything more per se. Kaio: (Winning with a nice reveral near the edge of dohyo) Of course, it would be better to be attacking forward, but my sumo is not yet at that stage. I really can't say I am in good physical condition. Maybe, the heat is making it a little better for me. Miyabiyama: (Things are not going quite right) He got me with a do-or-die move. But a loss is a loss. More Miya-babe: (Sleepless in Nagoya) I couldn't sleep at all last night. I'm going to drink myself silly before going to bed tonight. Kyokutenho: (Winless in Nagoya) I don't want to face any more ozeki. No mas. I just can't win against 'em. (What? Drop down the banzuke, then?) Nah. That would also be pretty sad. Hakuho: (Winning three after dropping one) I was able to get a mawashi hold right at the tachiai. (Are you getting into your rhythm?) Maybe, so. Wakanosato: (Injury added to insult when dumped unceremoniously on his rump) [My right leg hurts] but I can still walk on my own. Whether I go to the hospital will be decided after I get back to the heya and meet with my shisho. Baruto: (What is a guy to do?) That was my best tachiai of the basho. I hit him full force. More Bart: (Giving Hakurozan the evil eye) That's the worst. Didn't Hakurozen pull a henka against Osh, too? [That so-and-so] will never get kachi-koshi with sumo like that. [Not in a million years]. Hakurozan: (Totally unfazed and unrepentent) I won't be intimidated--no matter what kind of dirty look he gives me. On the contrary, it may even inspire me. Annie Talk Yoshikaze: (Thinking back to last Nagoya Basho when he won 10 as shin-juryo) I have a feeling I was doing much better sumo last year. Well, tomorrow is another day. Even more Bart: (Still angry over his loss) Tell [that jerk] to do some real sumo. Okey-dokey, tomorrow is another day. Encore Kaio from Day 3 : (Losing without much resistance to Roho) It was all in the tachiai, which was absolutely terrible. Well, today is today and tomorrow will be another day.
AsaMoe Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Wakanosato: (Injury added to insult when dumped unceremoniously on his rump) Has anyone news about Wakanosato ? It would be very sad, if he falls down the banzuke again, after he recovered from the last injury
Yuriyama Ren Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Baruto: (What is a guy to do?) That was my best tachiai of the basho. I hit him full force.More Bart: (Giving Hakurozan the evil eye) That's the worst. Didn't Hakurozen pull a henka against Osh, too? [That so-and-so] will never get kachi-koshi with sumo like that. [Not in a million years]. Even more Bart: (Still angry over his loss) Tell [that jerk] to do some real sumo. Okey-dokey, tomorrow is another day. Baruto would do well to review the bout on video before he talks to the reporters.. (Sign of disapproval) Kyokutenho: (Bewitched, bedazzled and bewildered) How do the others win against him? Well, Hakurozan has given us a nice demonstration, hasn't he: outmaneuvre Baruto's grab at the tachiai and then use his momentum against him.. The dude will be helpless cos he doesn't consider such a move real sumou.. Goddamn does Baruto need to learn how to counter opponents fast moves if he wants to win against Asa some day. :-|
Doitsuyama Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Goddamn does Baruto need to learn how to counter opponents fast moves if he wants to win against Asa some day. >:-| No need to wait for Asa. He can start with Aminishiki tomorrow.
Notsukutsu Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I suppose Baruto is pi**ed because he received Hakurozan's shoulder pretty hard in his face -- check the video at info-sumo.net . He shouldn't complain so much about the loss though, it wasn't a henka, the smaller guy just did what he could. :-|
Yuriyama Ren Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I suppose Baruto is pi**ed because he received Hakurozan's shoulder pretty hard in his face -- check the video at info-sumo.net . Hmm.. indeed, hitting with full force might not have been the best idea, after the blow it's as if Baruto loses his ring sense and from there it's an easy win for Hakurozan. He shouldn't complain so much about the loss though, it wasn't a henka, the smaller guy just did what he could. :-| Exactly! A loss is a loss. There's still time to get KK or more. Hmmm.. I wonder how much spice do the reporters add to the rikishi talk.. Unlike our madorosumaru they don't use italics..
Fukurou Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 (edited) Annie Talk ....tomorrow is another day. at the risk of being a party pooper, Annie's (the musical) "thing's will be better" tag-line was "The sun will come up, tomorrow" (from the song, Tomorrow). "Tomorrow is another day" is the last line of Gone With The Wind, spoken by Scarlett O'Hara after Rhett Butler finally left her Perhaps the KK aspirations of some of these guys have already gone with the wind? Otokonoyama Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) Hakurozan is a chronic dodger on the dohyo. I dunno why opponents keep getting taken. Who said "...you can fool most of the people most of the time..."? Edit: twas P.T. Barnum, apparently (though some say Abe Lincoln)..."You can fool some of the people all of the time; you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time." Edited July 13, 2006 by Otokonoyama
madorosumaru Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Wakanosato: (Injury added to insult when dumped unceremoniously on his rump) [My right leg hurts] but I can still walk on my own. Whether I go to the hospital will be decided after I get back to the heya and meet with my shisho. Wakanosato's injury is diagnosed as an ACL tear in right knee, requiring 2 months' treatment and rest. According to Naruto Oyakata, the likelihood is that it would take over three months and Waka's participation in Aki Basho is in doubt.
Manekineko Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Wakanosato's injury is diagnosed as an ACL tear in right knee [...] Ack. Again.
Mark Buckton Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 You can fool some of the people all of the time; you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time." so how come the LDP has retained power for so long? (Nodding yes...) (Sign of approval)
