Kintamayama Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Asashouryuu was seen smiling a lot today at Kotonowaka's danpatsushiki. He did a dohyo-iri and had a bout against Kotooushuu, which he lost by yorikiri.. He had a "supporter' on his right elbow and said : "Well, it's good to be back on the dohyo. Somehow, it felt as if the dohyo was waiting for my return.. I have a strong feeling that I will participate in Nagoya, and from here I will start tuning up", he said. OTOH, quite a different read on Mainichi: "I have to be ready in time, otherwise it's no good. I have no idea if I will be able to enter at this point. My power has dropped. When I use my interior muscles, it hurts.", he said. He will be leaving for Mongolia with the heya on a training trip on Monday. "I'll take advantage of Mongolia's dry weather and get well properly", he added.
Erkhembulgan Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Asashoryu is performing dohyo-iri on snow. http://www.mongolnews.mn/main.php?Module=U...tails&nid=10136
Fay Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Asashoryu is performing dohyo-iri on snow. http://www.mongolnews.mn/main.php?Module=U...tails&nid=10136 very nice (Whistling...) , but I see the next news with a cold of Asashoryu (Showing respect...) (and this time also Asasekiryu :'-( )
Bishonohana Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Yes, very much of a contrast to see a dohyo-iri in the snow! I hope the 2 Asa's won't be passing the cold among all the Rikishis... :'-(
Kintamayama Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) Asa will be participating in the June 11th one-day tournament at the Kkan. "He definitely will be there", said Takasago Oyakata. Asa and the heya are currently in Mongolia. The air there seems to have a miraculous effect on his recovery. "The air here is drier than in Tokyo, so my recovery is much quicker." Asked about Hakuhou's first yusho, he said, "Well, there was nothing I could do about it, as I could only watch.." He will surely be using the torunament to get back in the flow, as Nagoya is approaching.. Private note: I still say there is nothing wrong with him at this point. He was totally OK around day 7 of May. Edited June 6, 2006 by Kintamayama

Is his arm all right now ? Do you mean that he actually had no problems when he left the basho ? May 7th was the starting day... Thanks

Thanks He meant day 7 of the May basho, obviously. And I agree with Golden Balls, Asa's injury was a minor one, and it is even told he wanted to re-enter the basho on day 7. As he was out of the yusho race, I can see why he was kept out to prevent further injury. We will see in Nagoya how fit he really is anyway.
