Guest redredkrovy Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Hey, I'm glad I found this forum. I live about 15 miles south of Louisville and man do I wish there was somewhere around here to Sumo wrestle. I've been interested in sumo for years now but what recently peaked my interest was Night of the Giants on ESPN2. Up until then I thought the only place to sumo wrestle was in Japan but then I saw all of these other countries including the USA sumo wrestling. Now I REALLY wish there was somewher around here to wrestle. I know very little about the sport but it looks fun. I mean in what other sport can two overgrown behemoths bump heads. I played football in high school, I'm 6'1", and I wiegh 310 lbs. I'm trying to learn more about the sport, thank God for the internet! I wish ESPN would broadcast Sumo wrestling on a regular basis. Has anyone else watched the documentary "Sumo East and West", it's pretty good but it shows that about the only place to learn Sumo is in Hawaii. I know there are some dojos on the east and west coast but I'm not close enough for them to do me any good. BRING SUMO TO THE HILLBILIES PLEASE! It seems like good exercise too. Well thats enough for now, take it easy.

You can always try promoting sumo yourself in local gyms and clubs,at the moment I am helping out with the recently formed UKSA(United kingdom sumo assosiation)to promote sumo in the martial arts clubs in my local area. Dont ask how its going though because its just in the imformation collecting stage right now but we have big plans for the future.
Kishinoyama Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 (edited) (I was stupid...) to the forum! I used to live in TN and while I have never been in or near Louisville, I have visited the southeastern part of the state many times (Whistling...) . Edited May 11, 2006 by Kishinoyama
