yamaneko Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Baruto with a hatakikomi today. Not exactly overpowering sumo, but it got the job done, and this means hes only one off the leaders (im assuming chiyotaikai looses today)
Guest FinSoft Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 good and quick job, yes, not perfect powertrip , but still - nice and easy :)
Shimpu Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Tomorrow Baruto against my man - small but explosive Yoshikaze. He defeated Baruto once and I hope he'll defeat him again. Gambarize ! (Bye, bye...)
yamaneko Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 so much for yoshikaze saying that even if he lost he was going to make it hard for baruto. THAT was some overpowering sumo today. I bet baruto wanted revenge for his previous lower division loss to him. Great stuff. Hes looking a lot better than kotooshu this basho.
Shimpu Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) He is very strong... Yoshikaze just flew away (A sekitori...) Edited May 14, 2006 by Shimpu
Guest Jubin Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 He is very strong... Yoshikaze just flew away (A sekitori...) What hapened there? It was to fast to me. I saw only Yoshikaze feets on air!!
Jaffa Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 What hapened there? It was to fast to me. I saw only Yoshikaze feets on air!! Please have a look at the soles of Yoshikaze feet
Doitsuyama Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 You can see that also here, along with some more bouts.
Kintamayama Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Yesterday, he took a ballet lesson from Chiyotaikai. Today, perfect tawara-ballet.
yamaneko Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 WOW. baruto really showing me things. I dont think any of the european/russian gaijins could have pulled that move. its going to be hard for people to prepare to go against baruto. He seems to not have a SET style yet, he does so much different sumo every day. I was really worried today becauase kasugao IMO, is a technical wizard when hes on his game, and i thought that kind of rikishi would give baruto some problems.
Shimpu Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I was really worried today becauase kasugao IMO, is a technical wizard when hes on his game, and i thought that kind of rikishi would give baruto some problems. Indeed. I was looking for some power-yotsu too. The most amazed was Kasugao himself. With this huge body Bart should be more offensive. I hope tommorow against Futeno he'll show some good sumo instead of this what we saw today.
Doitsuyama Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Day 9 bout of Baruto and Homasho along with others are here.
yamaneko Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 any chance to get the shimoda bout on your site since they showed it on the NHK replays?
Doitsuyama Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 any chance to get the shimoda bout on your site since they showed it on the NHK replays? Please! If you have watched my snips, you'd know they are NOT coming from NHK. It's the live web stream where I get my food, which doesn't have replays at all. But maybe Dale or the French site will plug Shioda in.

Azumashida Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Anyone think that sansho is possible if he wins some more? with who will he fight on those remaining days any sanyaku maybe? With 10 wins he should get a kanto-sho.
Dale Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 whoops. i thought you were dale. But if he were, then who would I be? :) The match you want is posted at- http://www.banzuke.com/~movies/natsu2006/090506mov.html I've also filled in everything going back to Day 4, including the special features for each day. Kinda big files, but mostly worth the downloads. You can see quite a few juryo matches in tonight's file, for example. Dale Still recovering from a hardware failure on Day 1, but I'll get there...
Golynohana Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Thanks for this great stuff! (Applauding...) (Applauding...) (Applauding...)
Azumashida Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Wow, thanks for all these special features! (Applauding...)
Dale Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Wow, thanks for all these special features! Least I can do to make up for my lousy performance so far. The work week looms, and I hope I'll be able to keep up. I'll try to finally post Day 1 tomorrow and fill in Day 3. There was no special feature on Day 1, but I'll try to post the dohyo-iris and the dramatic unveilings of the yusho portraits :) There also wasn't one on Day 3, as they devoted the time to Asashoryu's kyujo. Some of the English announcers translate the special features, and some don't (cough cough wiggins cough cough... :) Tonight Hiro and Mark just did their own commentary, but I thought that worked out OK. Hiro is capable of doing pretty good simultaneous translation. If he'd just drop all the tired cliches from his regular play-by-play..... :) Oyasumi, Dale
Asashosakari Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 with who will he fight on those remaining days any sanyaku maybe? A bout against Miyabiyama could well be possible. I also suspect Asasekiryu will be drawn into "stop the runaway lower Maegashira" duty. He should know the job, he was in the opposite position before, after all. (Applauding...)
Jakusotsu Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I also suspect Asasekiryu will be drawn into "stop the runaway lower Maegashira" duty. He should know the job, he was in the opposite position before, after all. (Applauding...)Next speed bump will be Tokitsuumi then. (Applauding...)

On second thought, Bart vs. Kotomitsuki wouldn't surprise me either, given that Mickey can't face Kotooshu and thus needs an additional opponent compared to the other guys in sanyaku. (And Kotoshogiku is obviously out, as well, and Mickey didn't face Shoryu and Tochi before they dropped, so they'd have to reach down quite far for his opponents anyway - why not Baruto, then.)
