Takanorappa Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 (Sign of approval) :-) As I always expected,high-ranked gyojis are always around Calpis.
aderechelsea Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) as the original caption mentioned ... why is "Asashoryu" written on the yobidashi's clothes? Edited April 8, 2006 by aderechelsea
Otokonoyama Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) as the original caption mentioned ...why is "Asashoryu" written on the yobidashi's clothes? Easier to remove than a tatoo when things go sour... :-) In all likelyhood, a gift from the yokozuna... :'-( Edited April 8, 2006 by Otokonoyama
Mark Buckton Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 as the original caption mentioned ... why is "Asashoryu" written on the yobidashi's clothes? the next yobidashi along (just in the pic) was Hideyo - he had Tochiazuma's kanji on the back of his outfit - many did (have Tochiazuma). No idea why? :-)
Otokonoyama Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) From Grand Sumo: Fully Illustrated regarding tattsuke-bakama (supplied to yobidashi by corporations or other sponsors): ...name printed on the back of his trousers. If you ever spot the name of a yokozuna or ozeki, it indicates a gift commemorating some special occasion. Edited April 8, 2006 by Otokonoyama

Otokonoyama Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 On his blog Higashimori has a nice entry for the "Yasukuni" event.
Kintamayama Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 (edited) More from the press- It seems that when he went up to do the soroibumi , he was befuddled, and Asashouryuu pointed him to the direction where he should be standing.. Smaller one: Edited April 9, 2006 by Kintamayama
