yamaneko Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Is that like agasint the rules or something? I see lots of the rikishi with every other body part wrapped up for any thing, but im watching ama and iwakiyama every day, and theyre bleeding like theres no tomorrow after every bout since they dont have their cuts taped up. So is it against the rules to tape up a cut on your face? Its quite nasty to see them bleeding all over the place, plus unsanitary.
Jakusotsu Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I'm relieved that neither Rod Stewart nor Ron Wood have catched the HIV like this topic's caption suggests. (Hugging...)

I see lots of the rikishi with every other body part wrapped up for any thing, but im watching ama and iwakiyama every day, and theyre bleeding like theres no tomorrow I was wondering about that myself... (Yusho winner...) As far as I can remember, I've never seen a bandage on the face of a rikishi. Maybe somebody can refresh my memory if there ever was? :-)
Kintamayama Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I'm relieved that neither Rod Stewart nor Ron Wood have catched the HIV like this topic's caption suggests. (You are going off-topic...) That would be "The Faces", sir, or "The Small Faces". Face is the guy from the A Team.
Sasanishiki Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 While we are speaking of music and facial injuries, I hope the rikishi don't go all Nelly on us with bandaids on their face!
Araiguma_Rascal Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I agree, put a band-aid on it for crying out loud. I can't imagine it's against the rules. I think it's a macho thing: Look how manly I am, bleeding all over the place. (Sign of disapproval)
Onnagumo Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 [ I was wondering about that myself... :-S As far as I can remember, I've never seen a bandage on the face of a rikishi. Maybe somebody can refresh my memory if there ever was? (You are going off-topic...) Not exactly on the face, but I remember one on the forehead. During Aki basho 2001 Musoyama threw Kotonowaka facefirst into the clay, and the next day Kotonowaka entered the dohyo like this:
Jonosuke Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Just remembering early on this basho, didn't Kaio get his nose almost broken? His nose really looked like it got bent sideway. I guess it just got snapped back OK as it did look kind of strange one point.

During Aki basho 2001 Musoyama threw Kotonowaka facefirst into the clay, and the next day Kotonowaka entered the dohyo like this: Thank you, Onnagumo! I would consider forehead is part of the face. That's where Iwakiyama and Ama's scrapes/cuts are, too. So I guess there is no rule about putting a bandage on the face area... :-S BTW, I miss Kotonowaka. :'-(

It certainly looked painful! :'-( I didn't hear if it was actually broken or not, but it looks the same as usual now. :-D
Tetsuzukiyama Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 You could see the blood trickling down Futeno's arm after his bout today, that was pretty cool.
