Guest Monde_de_fou Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 hope to see him soon promoted! Thanks for the historic ikishima! He has really upside in his sumo. He is already powerfull (I don't know his present limit, no opponents are really able to move him based on what I've seen) but by being challenged more often (and he will!) he will have to add weapons in his sumo.
Coo-cook Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hakuho should really hurry up. When the Baltic Monster arrives Hakuho's Yokozuna dream could be just a dream. :-)
Kishinoyama Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 (edited) Today he gets Tosanomi. I think three more wins gets him there. I hope Tosanoumi does his famous Dohyo Dive.... Go Bart!!! (Shaking head...) Edited March 23, 2006 by Kishinoyama Whitney

Baruto 12-0. Nice cat-and-mouse game that Baruto was playing with Tosa...in the end he flopped down straight out of the dohyo while Bart was pretty much running the other way. I guess they had to give a kimarite, so hatakikomi it is. :-S I hope somebody caught the tsutaezori by Satoyama in the preceding bout, btw. Edited March 23, 2006 by Asashosakari
Senpai Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Hopefully somebody recorded both matches so I could see how Mihogaseki boys won their bouts!
Doitsuyama Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I hope somebody caught the tsutaezori by Satoyama in the preceding bout, btw. I caught the tsutaezori, and it sure wasn't a full fledged sori-kimarite. It was more like an incompetent Ryuho, heh. But nice last-ditch try from Satoyama.

I'm not even exactly sure what Satoyama did there to bring down Ryuho (as per my recent SML post, my eyes and brain simply don't seem to be fast enough sometimes), so I'd be interested in the recording for reviewing purposes, if anything. (Shaking head...)
aderechelsea Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 yeah the stream was active for both those matches and i got a glimpse of the Mihogaseki boys. Satoyama's kimarite was not that clear as Doitsu said (at least to my inexperienced eyes and with no replay). Baruto just did the minimun one has to do to win against Tosanoumi. Hold on to his ground for 2 seconds after the tachi-ai and then move to the side. He didn;t do exactly that but the result was the same. Tosanoumi has to calm himself down during matches. Seven out of ten times he loses due to his overexcitement .... but i guess he is too old to learn new tricks ...
lenc Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Baruto's match: http://www.nuclear.pri.ee/videos/Baruto-Tosanoumi.wmv

I do think the bout answered the question somebody posed earlier about whether a certain win of his was luck or good footwork...for a man of his size and height, Baruto seems to possess excellent dohyo sense (and he's quite speedy too), as evidenced again in his bullfight with Tosa today.
Doitsuyama Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 He didn't just move to the side. The slapdown was pretty forceful, very good execution.
aderechelsea Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 my post was mainly to bash at Tosanoumi for falling down most of the time. i wasn't describing the bout. anyway i said that "he didn't do exactly that" ...
Senpai Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Anyone wanna predict on what day Bart gets a loss if at all?

(Shaking head...) I saw this on TV, and whilst it looked like a tricksy move from Satoyama, I am also not clear why Ryuho actually went down - I am not sure he really needed to: maybe he was just confused or he just isn't the dancing type...
Quiphodge Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I predict that he wouldn`t lose in this basho. Will be 15:0. Clean job. :)
Guest NPD Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I predict that he wouldn`t lose in this basho. Will be 15:0. Clean job. :) I predict that he will lose one. (I had that in mind from the day1 already) That would be logical. But now when the number of remainig days thrinks down by one each day, I think that I sould not participate in any bet-s. 3 days left and I would have bet 1 loss for this basho my chanches would be 1 out of 3 now, aren't they? Anyway Baruto has done great job so far. What you? NPD
Quiphodge Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 We will see :). And next basho we`ll bet. now it is too late, you can lose too easily (Neener, neener...)
Guest NPD Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 We will see :). And next basho we`ll bet. now it is too late, you can lose too easily (Neener, neener...) i think that the chanches now are even higher to get that 1 loss, because of stronger opponents. OTOH i have heard that Baruto goes only 1 match a day and wants to win that one and only match that day not thinking about the total score or promotion/demotion. Pst! now i discovered the hole secret ;) So anybody want to bet 1 beer? I say: 14-1. (Only the quickest responder gets to bet (i' m not rich enough to buy a beer to all those 15-0 betters)) NPD
Zuikakuyama Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I think it has been ages since there was a zensho yusho in juryo. Toyonoshima came close a couple of bashos ago.
Guest NPD Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Bet is on :). I say 15:0 Huh. Fortunately the quickest better was from Estonia also. So, let's see... At least we will have a beer on whatever the final score is... ;) NPD
lenc Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I think it has been ages since there was a zensho yusho in juryo. Toyonoshima came close a couple of bashos ago. And against who did his only loss come......let's see...................ahh, Baruto of course. (Neener, neener...)
Senpai Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 14-1 Y (losing only to Mokonami) In my recalling it was Baruto who took win from Toyonoshima. Mokonami wasn't even sekitori then.
