If you don't want any fuss or bother, try OCS Overseas Courier Service

These guys virtually handle almost any Japanese books and magazines currently available. As a courier service they may be a bit more expensive but their offices are located almost everywhere in the world and you can deal with them locally.

I checked Turkey for you Here

and they have three offices in Turkey. so contact them by phone and ask them for shipping options.

As for Tegatas, any number of us can help you out here if it's a current rikishi.

EDIT: I believe somewhere in this forum, I listed three Japanese sumo magazines so you can try search for it but there are three: "Sumo" magazine (the official magazine of the Kyokai and published by Baseball Magazine Sha), "Ozumo" magazine published by Japan's largest newspaper company Yomiuri Shimbun company and bi-monthly NHL Ozumo Chukei magazine which is the easiest to read if you don't reac Japanese.

Jenosuke thank you for your interest and help. I checked out the URL that you given and found the office in Ankara which is very close to me. BUT i dont understand the connection between subscribing a SUMO MAGAZINE and an overseas courier service? What i am going to do with the service??? I am sorry I dont understand the point here.

I will scan or photo the TEGATA's soon...I am very curious about them...

You can order a magazine subscription with them - and what they do is every time the magazine is published in Japan, they will courier it to you so you will likely need to subscribe it for a year or at least six months.

Edit: Sorry with all the edits but I just want to add, both Sumo and Ozumo magazines cost around 800 Yen in Japan so you will expect to pay double that price if you are getting by air. So even in that sense the NHK magazine is more economical option but not as complete as the other monthly magazines. But personally I like the NHK magazine as much as the other two as I get all three. Incidentally the NHK Ozumo Chukei can be purchased from Japanese Amazon which has English pages. I used Japanese Amazon in the past and they are reliable but will take two to four weeks to get your shipment outside Japan.

Do you have MSN Jonosuke. I guess we have to talk it. The thing that i dont understand is "How can they know (i mean the people here in Turkiye working in OCS) which Magazine that i want" AND I dont have any subscribing coupon or something like that. I even dont know the Magazines Name if there is such a Sumo Magazine ???? Maybe there is no monthly Sumo Magazine??? I hope you understand what i mean....i am sorry...Fool me...

Ohh by the way i take the photos of TEGATA's just a few mins ago...how can i add them to here????

My lunch time is just about over so I got get back but here are more info:

OCS is a Japanese company. Chances are most people working at a local office outside Japan are not Japanese however there should be one person who speaks and understands Japanese as they mostly cater

to Japanese business people locally working there. This person should be familiar with Japanease magazines so someone will ask him/her if they do not know what you are talking about. They may even have a Japanese magazine price list available for you.

So the question will be which magazine you want to subscribe to. As I wrote there are three sumo magazines published in Japan now - two are monthly and one is bi-monthly.

1. NHK Ozumo Chukei (this is a suppliment magazine for weekly Stella) published by NHK Service

A bi-monthly, published for the month of hon-basho. They usually have pictures of all Makuuchi and Juryo rikishis. They will have other features such as a Heya tour telling a story about the oyakata and pictures of heya rikishis. This magazine has a lot of pictures and letters are larger and most accessible to non-Japanese readers (if you understand a little bit of Japanese, you may find you can even read some story!)

2. Ozumo magazine published by the Yomiuri Shimbun

A monthly magazine with great pictures and interesting articles also geared to casual sumo fans as well. It has usual stuff about reviews of the previous basho and forecast of the next as well as more features on individual rikishis both sekitoris and rising new talent as well interviews.

3. Sumo magazine published by the Baseball Magazine Sha

Sumo magazine is an official organ of the Nihon Sumo Kyokai and the magazine of the record. It tends to include more stats and historical stories than the other two magazines. It also has a day by day record of the previous basho as well as more formal interview than the other two. Some articles tend to be very dry and stuffy (especially those of historical nature).

Just ask OCS by the magazine name with the publisher as they should know which magazine they will need to order it for you. You won't be the first person asking to subscribe a Japanese magazine from them but very well may be the first sumo magazine subscriber!

Thats it...Its Clear now...Thank you for all your help Jonosuke...I guess NHK Ozumo Chukei is the best choice for me for the begining...

I've learned that the black one is Asashoryu. That makes me very happy cause Asas is my favorite Rikishi. I dont know who is the red one and i really get curious about it.

I think it's Asanowaka, who was in the same Takasago stable as Asashoryu. If it's him, he retired last year in May.

So the Black One is Asashoryu AND

The Red One is Asanowaka...Right?

The black one is definitely Asashoryu. This is because of the two red stamps in the lower left hand corner, the top one says 68th Yokozuna, and the bottom one says Asashoryu. The red one is more difficult to tell becuase there is no stamp. The autograph is in cursive, as most autographs are, so it's hard to make out what it actually says. But based on the resemblence with the more legible autograph on the picture that I posted, and the fact that he was traveling with Asashoryu, his stablemate, it's pretty logical to conclude that it's Asanowaka. So, the black one is Asashoryu, the red one, I'm almost certain that it's Asanowaka.

They didnt travel to Turkiye or I didnt meet with them...(I hope to meet with Asashoryu one day)

I was met with Ryusaku Takeuchi (All Japan Sumo Federation, Councilor, Dani "Top Rank" Refree, Competitive Committee---Which is writing on the card that he gaves to me) when he travels to Turkiye with 2 university sumotori Takamori Oyama & Fumihiro Tanioka.

When we met I told him how i love Sumo and he promises me to send these Tegata's when he returns back to Japan. After that i gave my address to Japan Embassy. Then he sends me the Tegata's via Japan Embassy...Thats the Story...

I hope one day I will visit Japan and there i hope to meet with Asashoryu and other great Rikishi's.

Both Oyama and Tanioka are with Kinki University Sumo Club, college sumo powerhouse in western Japan. Recently Haikiai and Kambayashi joined Ozumo from the club. Oyama was 171 cm tall, 135 kg and Tanioka was 170 cm, 120 kg when they were competing for the club last year. Both were fourth year so they should be graduating this year.

Oyama graduated from Aichi Kogyo Meiden High School and among the graudates are baseball's Ichiro and Asanowaka and Buyuzan.

Tanioka graduated from Saitama Sakae High School, where quite a few of the graduates are joining Ozumo now. Tanioka actually made a news a couple of years ago when he nabbed a couple of would-be robbers and received a certificate of appreciation from Osake Police. Apparently when he was training at a park, he heard an alarm and he went to in to check and found a couple of guys running away. He chased after them and caught one of them even after the other one got into a car and run over him.

"I never run as hard as I did since I started the university but there was no way I would let them go," Tanioka said later.

Edit: My understanding is that Takeuchi and the boys travelled to Europe as a part of Japanese Exchange programs sponsored by the Japanese Embassies in Europe last year.
