Zenjimoto Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Well... the amazingly BORING winning entry has been published today: I am sure gay Europeans everywhere will be thrilled! (Censored) http://jpn.cec.eu.int/home/news_en_newsobj1611.php At the risk of sounding sour grapes, but why bother? I guess they really wanted to save on those expenses by selecting Japanese winners (Laughing...) Oh well...
Zenjimoto Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Ah, Verena and I post at the same time (Laughing...)
Jakusotsu Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Boring? Maybe, but I like it. Good design shows it's class in the lack of overdoing things, and this one is as straight to the point as it could be.
Asashosakari Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) I agree with Zenjimoto...is there anything more bland and overdone than a rainbow motif? Yawn. The chosen design for the apron will contain a circle of the twelve stars of the EU flag with the kanji character "欧" (for Europe) in the centre. Actually not even only the star circle; that pretty much is the entire EU flag, background and all, so the only creative effort here is the rainbow-coloured kanji. I realize we're talking about design here, not artwork, but wow, talk about not exactly overworking yourself. Edited March 10, 2006 by Asashosakari
Sasanishiki Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 And they combined elements of two designs. What were the original two like? In this case, less definitely is NOT more
Kintamayama Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 And now, a problem arises: there are 12 stars on the KM. Does this mean his wins will stop at 12? If so, he can never be a Yokozuna. Remember - sumotori and their surroundings are highly superstitious people. The Japan office of the EU and Sadogatake beya got together to find a quick solution, and this is what they came up with: "He will win the remaining three by himself". Reality sometimes does overrride fantasy.
ilovesumo Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 (edited) It's really funny to watch it... this was my try... (@ Moti- I gave him at least 13 stars (Annoyed...) ) as boring as the winning one, so it feels like I really had a chance ... (In a state of confusion...) Edited March 11, 2006 by ilovesumo
Odoriou Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 I am sure gay Europeans everywhere will be thrilled! (Censored) The gay pride flag has six different colours, not seven. (Whistling...) I wonder if this lilac-purple-red frame was designed by one of the two winners, while the rainbow-kanji-thingie was done by the other guy? I like the lilac frame. It's the traditional kesho-mawashi colour for Ozeki and Yokozuna - and my favourite colour. (Nodding yes...)
Kintamayama Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Winning design and designer- 71 year old 藤木恭 (Fujiki Kyou?). "I was influenced by Osh's power and gentleness when I designed it. Now I am eagerly anticipating watching him wear it", said the artist. The presentation ceremony will be on April 24th.
Jakusotsu Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 The late Gene Pitney showing off his one and only platinum award for "Something's Gotten Hold On My Taste".
Kintamayama Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) The presentation was held today. It was held at the Prime Minister's residence, no less. "Today isn a special day for me. I will be concentrating on my keiko. Thank you very much", he said. "Not only Bulgaria, but the whole EU is rooting for you. Please aim for Yokozuna!!", said Prime Minister Koizumi. Osh is planning to wear it on May 13th for the first time. Edited April 24, 2006 by Kintamayama
Fay Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 "Not only Bulgaria, but the whole EU is rooting for you. Please aim for Yokozuna!!", said Prime Minister Koizumi. The Prime Minister knows more than me, well up now I have to cross my fingers for Oshu ... (Whistling...)
mimosa Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Good luck Kotooshu with the new kesho mawashi! We, Europeans, will wait for yours (Showing respect...) (Whistling...) Yokozuna promotion.
Bishonohana Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I'm not so crazy about the new kesho mawashi, but Osh looks good in anything, so that's fine with me... (Clapping wildly...)
Kintamayama Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Here are some photos from the event... On the bottom right, isn't that my favorite "Vienna Boys' Choir"? Wow. I really missed out on that..
Phoenix Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I'm not so crazy about the new kesho mawashi, but Osh looks good in anything, so that's fine with me... (Clapping wildly...) I'm not crazy about the new kesho mawashi either, but actually he looks good in just his mawashi as well! (Sign of approval)
ilovesumo Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 (edited) EUROPEAN UNION in romaji????? (Laughing...) surprisesurprise Edited April 25, 2006 by ilovesumo
kotooshu_bulgaria Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 OK, here is the best photo of them all, I don't know how I missed to include it yesterday... The Vienna boys especially for Kintamayama B-)
Odoriou Posted April 26, 2006 Author Posted April 26, 2006 OK, here is the best photo of them all, I don't know how I missed to include it yesterday... Really a great picture. (Sign of approval) Wow - Junichiro Koizumi (Prime Minister of Japan), Kotooshu (President of the European Harp Fanclub), Wolfgang Sch
obinishiki Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 (Whistling...) Don't you forget Wolfgang Quinn, recently retired buccaneer from Niederfladnitz/Lower Austria!
Coo-cook Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 (edited) Don't you forget Wolfgang Quinn, recently retired buccaneer from Niederfladnitz/Lower Austria! And Wolfgang Arni Blackeggerle of course. (Whistling...) Edited April 26, 2006 by Coo-cook
Kishinoyama Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 And Wolfgang Arni Blackeggerle of course. (Whistling...) And of course Wolfy Ramone :-D
Odoriou Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Oh, no! (Censored) Better put the cloth back. My eyes! (Clapping wildly...) My boyfriend's pyjamas have exactly the same colours. (Clapping wildly...) Well... the design is terrible, but at least we had a good laugh today. (Clapping wildly...)
Jakusotsu Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Now I'm confused. Kotooshu wore his two-years-old jumping horse Mawashi again on shonichi. What's the deal? (Enjoying a beer...)
