Koriyama Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 In view of some harsh voices regarding yusho and sumo of our next yokozuna (Whistling...) Tochiazuma, one can
aderechelsea Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 i like Asa and 'Ho A LOT but Kaiho remains my favourite rikishi ... Tochiazuma is OK i guess ...
Kintamayama Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I like sumo. They are all my favorite rikishi. Even Chiyotaikai. I voted in accordance.
Fujisan Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Asasoryu is and always has been my favourite rikishi (Bye, bye...) Hakuho I have always liked. (Being unsure...) Tochiazuma I used to hate but he's grown on me. (Whistling...)
Takamueda Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I voted for 'I like him' at all 3 votes. There are only a few Rikishi I don't like (Robocop, Rohenka)
ilovesumo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I like sumo. They are all my favorite rikishi. Even Chiyotaikai. I voted in accordance. Wise words.
ikishima Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 When I worked in Japan I watched or taped every single match. I couldn't wait to see what would happen. I have a fondness for any rikishi that was around from back in that time. The newest ones, I don't care for as much. They just aren't as important to me as the ones I remember. I don't think there necesarily has to be bad guys. Even the demise of rikishi I used to love to hate Takatoriki, Asanowaka and Mitoizumi was sad for me. I have growing respect for Taikai and Miyabiyama for that reason.
Fay Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I love Asashoryu and I love to see him fighting (and winning). I like Hakuho, hmm what's wrong with his way of sumo??? (OK, I don't know too much about sumo, I just like to watch it) And Tochiazuma ... well what shall I say, I never noticed him so much in the past, so I can't say if I like his sumo or not. In fact, I like most of them (and why not Chiyotaikai, he's really charming), I cross my fingers for my favourites (although I lost my biggest Kotonowaka :'-( ) and this is how it should be I think.
Manekineko Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I also like them all, but differently. I like Asashoryu, because he's amazing, a true champion, one of the greatest ever. I like Hakuho because he shows promise, has stellar moments, and looks a bit like Jack Palance. I love Tochiazuma because of his sumo, his muscly legs (Heart) , his perserverance... and because years ago I decided he's be my replacement for Wakanohana III when he retired. So, Azuma is my favourite among the three listed, but I like them all. I like most of the banzuke, it seems, and I really love about 10 of them. Plus about as many now retired... You know you've been following this sport long when a large chunk of your favourites are among oyakata.
Jakusotsu Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Interesting that Asashoryu got the most votes in the "Well, he
Jesinofuji Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 (edited) Asashoryu is my favorite and always has been. (Holiday feeling...) I like Hakuho because of the way he henkad Hokutoriki a couple years ago. (Hugging...) I used to call Tochiazuma Tochihenkazuma, but he doesn't Henka anymore so he's ok now. :-) Edit: People are probably wondering how its OK for Hakuho to henka vs. Hokutoriki, but its not OK for Tochiazuma in his Ozeki run? The answer is simple: The A rule. The A rule states that anything good for Asashoryu is Good. So, following the A rule, Hakuho's henka was not just OK, it was Good. Fujisan Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Interesting that Asashoryu got the most votes in the "Well, he’s OK." department so far - not quite as controversial as expected. "We are awaiting the Finnish vote." (Whistling...) ;-)
slt Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 (edited) Asashoryu... well, what's there to say. I think anyone who's seen him go up the ranks has, at the very least, an enormous respect for him. Personally, there is no Rikishi I'd rather see on the Dohyo - and he doesn't seem so bad off the dohyo, either. Tochiazuma. Strong, forward sumo. I'd like to see more of his personality leek through the various news, I can't seem to remember many recent anecdotes related to him. I'd say I like him. Hakuho's sumo is quite good, and getting better. I'm not sure I like him that much, somehow, but gave him "I like him" mostly because he has a very cute sister who lives here in London. (Whistling...) (Edit: Post N.100... closer to sekitorihood) Edited January 26, 2006 by slt
Cammy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Asashoryu...well I don't like, but I do have great respect for him, he is really good, but have never really liked him. Tochiazuma...I have always liked him, really happy that he got yusho, and happy to see a little more challenge for Asashoryu. Hakuho...I like him, not a huge fan, but I have started to like him more and more. But these three aren't really any of my favorites, I have always been a big Miyabiyama, Dejima, Toki, and Chiyotaikai fan.
hoshidango Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I like sumo. They are all my favorite rikishi. Even Chiyotaikai. I voted in accordance. Same here. I would replace Chiyotaikai with Takekaze..
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 "We are awaiting the Finnish vote." (Applauding...) (Yusho winner...) Halonen won with 51.8 % of the votes.
