Fukurou Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I know it's tacky, but I'm so happy I have to share. I finished KK in all 6 games I play this tournament. Yeah, I know this is normal for some of you guys, but it's never happened to me before. (Whistling...) Chain Gang - Out on Day 12, a 2nd place finish :-O Since the winner also went out on Day 12, I'm also kicking myself for not going with my first instinct and pick Mokonami that day (he won). :-/ Hoshitori - Finished 12-3 and won the Gino-sho prize (jumped 109 positions on Day 3). Promoted from M8 -> Kw :-D ISP - Finished 11-4, part of a logjam in 9th place. :-D Rotosumo - Eeked out an 8-7 KK in the Juryo division. :-D Sekitori Toto - 11-4, part of the group tied for 8th place. I actually led this game for the first time on one day (Day 3) B-) UDH - Dropped quite a bit in the last few days, but hung on for a 9-6 record and a promotion M2 -> Kw. (Applauding...) (Bye, bye...)
Itachi Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 You and I seem to have only one game in common, Fukurou. I finished a modest 9-6 in Sekitoto. I'm just happy to get kk in that one lately. I only went mk in two games. I finished 6-9 in the Makushita Game which was close to last place! I had finished near the top in past basho so I was very disappointed in myself - though there are no losers in that game, only those who win less. In Banzuke surfing 1st wave I was one of those who took a chance on Towanoyama who was kyujo for much of the tournament and managed only 1 win. Back to Sandanme for us. In the 2nd wave of that game, me and almost everyone else are tied for first having selected Gagamaru. In a more popular game, I finished 9-6 as Wakatanuki in Benchsumo from Juryo 3 or so. I wonder if I'll get back to Makuuchi? I'm pleased to get kk in that game lately too. I ended up tied for the jun-yusho (if I remember correctly) in Guess the Yusho Winners. A yusho might have earned me a promotion to Ozeki so I missed that but I'm happy to have done well enough to have an opportunity next tournament. I probably finished with the best winning % in Kaiopectate's Ichimon Game though with only 2 rikishi in my heya I'm close to last in every other category. I saved the best result for last ... pity since there might no tbe anyone still reading! I took home the SUPER-YUSHO in the Juryo Game which has earned me re-promotion to Ozeki (I had fallen after 2 consecutive 7-8 tournaments). Hoshifransu sent me a nice prize last time and has already contacted me. I look forward to the sweet spoils of victory. All in all it was one of my most successful tournaments which makes up for my computer system self-destructing throughout. I finally got it up and running properly today after 2 weeks of everything but the mouse and keyboard giving me trouble and needing to be replaced or reinstalled. Well, surely someone else has bragging and/or whining to do. Let's hear some chatter. Itachi (and sometimes Wakatanuki)
Guest scarebear Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Another great hoshitori basho for Scarebear. Last place although picking 4 kk and scoring 550 points was not one of my best efforts. Edited January 23, 2006 by scarebear
Gusoyama Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Lets see: Pre Basho Fantasy Sumo: Finally went intai in this silly game. Juryo Game: 7-8, missed the cutoff by 1 point. RotoSumo: 9-6, to end my 3 MK basho streak. Salarycap: 9-6, only my 3rd KK in 13(?) bashos Seki-Oracle: 9-6, and closer to Juryo! Hoshitori: 3-12, back to M4. Sigh. UDH: 4-11, and into Juryo. Daily Games Bench Sumo: 8-7,KK on day 15 for the second basho in a row. ISP: 11-4, most likely to be dropped to 9-6 with the standard ISP adjustment, hopefully I'll be up around M9 or so. S4: 4-11. I'm horrible at this game, as my 74-95-11 record will attest to. Seki-Toto: 10-5 in a game I normally do poorly in. Sumo Game: 5-10, not sure I'm going to continue with this one. Forum Games Guess the Kotomitsuki: I'm totally Wakanosato in this game. 9-6, still can get Ozeki, but its looking grim. Banzuke Surfing: 2-5, back down to Jonie for me. (Whistling...) Totals: 6MK, 7 KK, 90-97 overall record. Typical. Edited January 23, 2006 by Gusoyama
aderechelsea Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 ok let's see .... Pre-basho: Guess the Banzuke 9-6 Pick The Yusho Winners: 4-3 (jd2) Juryu Game: 4-3 (jk1) 21: 10-5 Makushita Game: 7-8 (M5w) Guess the Kotomitsuki: 10-5 (M3e) Banzuke Surfing: 3-4 with Hokutofuji at sd91e Roto-sumo: 3-4 (ms41e) i am THE WORST PLAYER EVER in this one (Beaten...) Seki-Oracle: 9-6 (ms7e) Salary Cap: don't know wins-losses but 1998 points are good enough to become sekitori again (ms2w) (Whistling...) Ciber Sumo: 14th in heya championship and 2nd place overall with rikishi Daiyuchi. Too bad the overall leader was from Sandanme too so i got nil at the end .... :'-( The other two rikishi of my heya were rather mediocre and had 1 KK and one MK .... Daily Games: Bench Sumo: 6-9 (ms15w) Typical elevator rikishi in makushita .... (Laughing...) Sumo Game: 8-7 from 2-7. Tamanoshima style but only better .... ;-) (ms16w) Seki-toto: 6-9 ... 8th MK in 11 basho (Help me...) (i don't even check my place at the banzuke anymore...) S4: 5-10 disaster ... (M9w) Chaingang: out on day 4 ... Pathetic Banzai: 0-4-11 and intai. My terrible injury prevents me from coming back ... entertaining basho overall but not good results .... (Yusho winner...) (Dohyo-iri...)
Kashunowaka Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) I had a great basho. Super Banzuke games (pre-basho): GTB 10-5 ;-) Sekitori-Oracle 7-8 (Yusho winner...) GISP Somewhere in the middle, slightly above the median. 8-7? (Dohyo-iri...) Edit: 8-7 indeed. :-) Juryo Game 7-0 (Sign of approval) Makushita yusho! RotoSumo 10-5 (Sign of approval) 5th place in makuuchi Totoro's Hoshitori 12-3 but more importantly: ozeki promotion! (Whistling...) UDH 8-7 :-) I was doing much better until Tamanoshima started winning. Paper-Oyakata 12-3, 10th place (Sign of approval) Norizo Cup 8-7 :-) Not great, but kachi-koshi. Salarycap 6-9 (Laughing...) I thought it would be worse, with Kaio in the team. Super Banzuke games (daily): Sekitori-Toto 11-4 (Sign of approval) If I don't get promoted to makuuchi now, I never will. (I am J1e.) ISP 10-5 :-) Probably my worst game, so if I am above the median, I am happy. Sumo Game 10-5 (Sign of approval) I was 3-5 after 8 days! I am ranked ms4e, but since this is Sumo Game I don't expect to get promoted to juryo. (Beaten...) Tip-Spiel 6th place (Sign of approval) After winning yusho last time, I am absolutely thrilled to be able to make top 10 again. S4 10-5 (Sign of approval) Yusho winner had 11-4. I was never in the race though, but still a great result. Bench Sumo 7-8 (Help me...) I cannot be dissatisfied since my major mistake was made pre-basho, picking Kaio as my ozeki. I never got into the groove in week 1 and got MK on day 12, but finished with 3 wins. Chain Gang Out on day 8! (Sign of approval) I have never made it to day 8 before!!! Other games: CiberSumo 9-6, 9-6, 4-3, Heya 5/89 (Sign of approval) Whenever all three of my rikishi get KK, I am very satisfied. Yoso (Sign of disapproval) Kumi (Sign of disapproval) No luck in the Hungarian games this time. PTYW 9-6 :-) Banzuke Surfing I had Towanoyama, say no more. I will probably retire from this game. Takamueda Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Daily: Bench Sumo: 4-11 (Help me...) Why did I choose Chiyotaikai??? I had Kotooshu, but on Saturday before the Basho I changed to Kyujotaikai, ARGGGGHHH! Next basho I'm going to attack. Tippspiel: Deep, Deep in the MK-Zone, but this is a game I'm usually bad in. Sekitoto: 7-8, it's OK, I have had more desastrous results in the Past. Chain Gang: Out on Day 3! (Whistling...) ISP: 9-6, I started with 6-0... S4: 8-7 and the Shukun-Sho, I'm really happy. TRIO: 5-9-1 Pre-Basho: Hoshitori: 12-3, 5th participation, 5th KK, I think I like this game Sekitori-Oracle: 8-7 Just jumped over the KK-line on the last day. (Laughing...) Rotosumo: 2-5 Taikai (Sign of disapproval) Salarycap: 8-7 UDH: 5-10 Kumi: don't know yet, I Think I'm somewhere in the middle of Makuuchi CiberSumo: 5-2, 2-5 & 9-6. Juryo Game: 3-4 Thought it would be worse Paper Oyakata: 8-7 see Sekitori-Oracle (Dohyo-iri...) Komusubi Debut made successfully. Guess the Banzuke: 15-0 (Yusho winner...) And this with the first draw made on senshuraku Guess the Kotomitsuki: 9-6 Makushita Game: Just missed KK by 0.25 points. (Beaten...)
Asashosakari Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) I haven't even looked up most of my final results until now, so let's see what the bag o' surprises holds... GTB: No complaints here, joint 5th and 13-2. (Sign of approval) I used to be merely serviceable in GTB, but the last year or so has been very kind to me. Also 5th on the overall rankings now, actually down one spot from two months ago. Hoshitori: 10-5, my first double-digits record in over a year. :-) Still, hard to believe I was on a semi-serious Ozeki run here at one time... UDH: also 10-5, and promotion to Sw...still no Super Banzuke points for me here, looks like I'll be 43rd in the rankings now. Given that I used to be terrible at this game, I'm happy. B-) Roto: middle of the pack as always, 4-3 this time. I was on course for a 6-1 result through Day 11, but two horrible days 12 and 13 killed that, and I ended up even missing 5-2 by a few points. Why oh why did I pick Yoshikaze over Wakanosato? My picksheet looks like this: Yoshikaze Wakanosato Yoshikaze (Censored) Oracle: 8-7 and probably not good enough for a return to sanyaku...tried to balance my picks better in the meatgrinder this time but it didn't really do much to improve my overall score. Well, maybe it'd have been make-koshi without it, so no complaints here, but back to the strategery sessions for next time... (Help me...) Salarycap: 8th in Makushita and 12-3 record thanks to Tochiazuma and Hakuho, definitely my finest basho ever in this game...could even be good enough for promotion to Juryo from Ms9w, but looking at the Juryo results almost all MK were in the upper half of the divison, so probably not many free spots available. :-) Cibersumo: 5-2, 4-3, and 4-3 for my rikishi, but that's just in Sandanme of course. 19th for the heya. Haven't really figured out how to be truly great in this game, but for the moment I'll take successful mediocrity, especially as long as I'll get all three guys into KK territory. (Laughing...) PTYW: 9-6 in Makuuchi, and still Sekiwake. Could've been much worse when my Sandanme pick bombed out. :-P Banzuke Surfing 1: Unexpectedly I'm back in the extended running for the lead here again, thanks to Wakanoho's 6-1. (And Masatsukasa and Wakakirin...sorry Oshirokita (Whistling...)) Banzuke Surfing 2: I should've just used my jokers early on like I did in the first wave...as it is, I only picked Masuhikari but not the winner Gagamaru. Oh well, he still went 6-1 so we're getting somewhere at least. (Beaten...) Makushita Game: Yusho! (Yusho winner...) After a whole bunch of jun-yusho and other close calls in various games, I believe this is my first yusho anywhere since a Jonokuchi yusho in Rotosumo over 2 years ago. A niche game to be sure, but I'm positively ecstatic nonetheless. :-) And the handful of dailies I play: Chaingang: Out on Day 3...I have to stop being so irrationally optimistic about Iwakiyama in all games. Well, at least not out on shonichi, so minimum goal achieved. :-) Sekitoto: 8-7 with a win on senshuraku, whew. And things looked pretty good after a 4-2 start, oh well. :-) Probably no good for any kind of rank improvement though, as usual. S4: 6-9, blergh. ;-) The last five days, absolutely nothing went right for me, though the first 10 days were nothing to write home about, either. First bad basho since Aki 2004, so I guess this had to happen sometime. I hope this isn't going to derail my quest to complete the game's first Makushita->Sanyaku run too badly... :-) Wow, that actually looks to be one of my best-ever overall basho, which I didn't expect at all at nakabi. (Dohyo-iri...) If only my favourite S4 wasn't sticking out like that... Edited January 23, 2006 by Asashosakari
Randomitsuki Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Very similar to Kyushu Basho, it was quite successful overall, but this was marred by bad performances in my favorite games. Here they are listed from least favorite game (and I still love it) to most favorite game: Guess the Kotomitsuki: 9-6 Chain Gang: out on day 4. Fantasy Sumo: should be a 9-6 record, maybe enough to enter SB territory (I was 43rd on the last banzuke) ISP: 8-7, will probably be converted to 7-8. I am completely clueless when it comes to difficult bouts. (Help me...) Upside Down Hoshitori: Jumonji. Kasugao. Kitazakura. Tokitsuumi. 1-14. (I was stupid...) Banzuke Surfing: 5-2 on the first wave, 7-0 on the second wave. Juryo Game: 8-7 as shin-Juryo. Pick the Yusho Winner: 8-7 as shin-Makuuchi. Norizo Cup: 12-3, Juryo yusho, overall 3rd. Masters Points for the second time in a row. Promotion to Makuuchi likely. (Clapping wildly...) GISP: 11-4 jun-yusho. Promoted into Juryo. (Clapping wildly...) Rotosumo: 11-4; 7th overall, 2nd in Juryo. (Clapping wildly...) No Masters points. Grrrmbl. (Annoyed...) Paper Oyakata: 11-4, finally managed the promotion into Juryo. (Sigh...) Makushita Game: 6-9. Awful. (Neener, neener...) Sekitori Quadrumvirate: 10-5; my best basho ever in a cool game where I seriously suck. (Nodding yes...) Hoshitori: 12-3. Could be the start of an Ozeki run (cough cough) Tippspiel: 7-8, where an 8-7 might have been enough for a Makuuchi promotion. Salarycap Sumo: 7-8. Could not decide between a Tochiazuma+Kitazakura combo and a Kaio+Yoshikaze combo. Went for the latter. (Annoyed...) Fourth MK in a row, the worst streak I've ever had in any game. Sekitori Oracle: 5-10. Sheesh, demoted to Juryo. (Sign of disapproval) GTB: 9-6, but dropped out of the top 10. (Shaking head...) Sekitori Toto: 9-6. I am curious to see whether 7 KK in 8 basho and a combined 72-48 record will be enough to be promoted from ms50 to Juryo. Sumo Game: 7-8 on senshuraku. (Censored) Bench Sumo: 7-8, for the second time in a row. In both cases an 8-7 would have been enough for a Makuuchi promotion. (Censored) (Censored) Edited January 23, 2006 by Randomitsuki
sekihiryu Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 (edited) GISP(Neener, neener...) (12-3) 91 points, 3 points clear. Cant even remember who I picked but it must have been good! My first major SB yusho win. Nice Banzuke bump. Yoso edit! 14-1 thought it was bad!(cant figure out how this game works!) Hoshitori 10-5 59th= with Asashosakari S4 9-6 not too shabby, should be enough for Juryo! Sumo Game 8-7 at m1, should be enough to get to Juryo PTYW 10 - 5, 4th =, better than I expected. Another good result in this game for me Roto 5-2. slowly creeping up the banzuke in the first game I ever played. Salarycap 8-7 to stave off demotion to Makushita. Fantasy sumo 27th place. YYSB 12-3 (44-46) not too shabby Juryo game 4-3 104 points GTK 10-5, on the money with my guess but like many blew the tiebreakers makushita game I like this game. 8-7 Banzuke surfing gagamaru - caught a long wave CS - Cursed Sumo 7-8. Lost twice on really obscure tiebreakers. ISP 7-8, worst result in a long time. Toto not in Kansas anymore - 6-9 kumi Dead last! (Clapping wildly...) got a first and last place this basho. UDH 4-11 Norizo cup6-9 Paper Oyakata7-8 more good than bad, Edited January 25, 2006 by sekihiryu
Taka Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 (edited) Pretty good so I can't really complain, just wished a Yusho somewhere would have gone my way. ST- 9-6 (continuing the slow climb up the Banzuke. Hopefully I'll be in a somewhat good position for a makuuchi run next time around.) SQ - 7-8 ISP - 8-7 Juryo Game -7-8 (Had some pretty good picks but why on earth did I last minute replace Tochinonada with Daraido as my super juryo rikishi? Would have been at least top 10 if I hadn't....) RotoSumo 6-1 Hoshitori 12-3 UDH 13-2 Salarycao 9-6 Sekitori Oracle 10-5 Oh and maybe I'm missing something but has the final scores been posted in Yoso and Kumi? Can't seem to find them. Edited January 24, 2006 by Taka
Kashunowaka Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Cibersumo: 5-2, 4-3, and 4-3 for my rikishi, but that's just in Sandanme of course. 19th for the heya. Haven't really figured out how to be truly great in this game, but for the moment I'll take successful mediocrity, especially as long as I'll get all three guys into KK territory. (Neener, neener...) I didn't know you played CiberSumo. Cool game, isn't it?
Asashosakari Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Cibersumo: 5-2, 4-3, and 4-3 for my rikishi, but that's just in Sandanme of course. 19th for the heya. I didn't know you played CiberSumo. Cool game, isn't it? It's one of those cases where I had convinced myself for years that I wouldn't like the game if I played it, so I never did until recently, but turns out I was wrong. ;-)
Zeokage Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 (edited) Just managed to update my performance over the last year, added two prizes to my cabinet, one without even knowing it. As for this basho, probably not going to look that good, but here goes... Pre-basho Games Cibersumo: 4-3, 5-2 and 2-5 for my 3 rikishi. 43rd out of the 89 heya. Fantasy Sumo: Normally I don't look at the win total part, but this time I did and I came in 9th with 108. I haven't worked out my W-L yet. GISP: Seems I was in Juryo in Aki, now I'm back at ms4w and falling further with a 6-9. Hoshitori: 11-4 from J1, up to M5 where I'm sure I'll do the exact mirror image. Juryo Game: 3-4 in a game where I haven't managed a KK for a whole year. Kongo: 8-7 in my debut. Kumi: Natsu 2005 Juryo Yusho, and since then it's been downhill. 7-8 at ms1e. Ozumo Bingo Game: 7-8. Paper Oyakata: 10-5 from ms6w, hopefully a place in Juryo next time out. Pick the Yusho Winners Rotosumo: 5-2 from ms18e. Salarycap Sumo: ms3e and expecting an MK. Sekitori Oracle: Been playing this since Haru 2004 and only managed KK twice. This time it's a 5-10. UDH: Same with this game, only I've managed KK 3 times. 5-10 again... Yoso: Again 5-10, this time from J6e. Daily Games Banzai: I wish I could say it's just that I can't enter picks every day as the reason I'm so bad at this, it's also that I just really am bad at it. 3-7-5 this time. Bench Sumo: Apparantly 10-1 and leading the yusho race going into the final few days, lost 4 in a row not knowing about the problems Asa was having, fell to 10-5. First time in Makushita as well, which was also something I didn't realise at first. Chain Gang: Lasted one day... ISP: Ms27e, 10-5. SekiQuad: This one I might do better in if I could get on and choose every day. 6-4-5. Sumo Game: ms33e, 5-10. Sekitori Toto: ms56e, 4-6-5. Sumo Forum Games 21: Reversed my debut 3-12 to a 12-3 and a jun-yusho. Banzuke Surfing: Rode the wave of my adopted heya (Shikihide) and Tenryuzan to 5-2. Banzuke Surfing 2nd Wave: Went with most of the pack and surfed the Gagamaru wave to 7-0. Guess the Kotomitsuki: 8-7 this time... Makushita Game: Debut in this game with 8-7. Other Games Guess the Banzuke: Ended a run of 5 MK in 6 tournaments (1 kyujo) with a 13-2 and a 4th place. Guess the Result Maegashira Game: Near bottom again, 24th out of 26 participants. Missing days didn't help. Tip-Spiel: 0-7... once again... Trio: J7E, 5-5-5 Yin-Yang Sumo Balance: Totally forgot that I took part in the first one and had 2 kyujo after my debut, this time 10-5 from M16w. Japanese Games DailyAim for Yokozuna 1/3: The change in site has deleted all previous records it seems, but 6-4-5 from ms22 isn't stellar by any means. Hashiweb Yoso: Didn't move at all in the last banzuke with 9-2-4, but hopefully this time's 8-2-6 will be luckier. Yoso Taikai: Another game without history stored somewhere it seems, 8-2-5 from M9. Pre-basho GameAim for Yokozuna G2: 9-6 Aim for Yokozuna PEG: 4-11 Aim for Yokozuna Ranking: Seems this is continuing from an older game, but the old results aren't there so I can't check. Dead last in this game. Norizo Cup: 10-5 from ms10, not expecting to get back into Juryo, but here's hoping. Taka's G1: Again Haru and Natsu 2005 data missing, but happy with my 8-7. Taka's Quiz: Haru and Natsu 2005 data missing, but I'm sure I've never managed a KK here. 5-10 this time. Edited January 27, 2006 by Zeokage

AsaMoe Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 This time i am satisfied with all of my games. Unfortunately i decided to cut down on the four most important one, so this is not a big deal. But anyway: ISP: 8-7 after 0-3 Chaingang: 6 or 7 rounds until Toki started, giving my a tied 8-17th place Bench: 8-7 and one not so good: Hoshitori: 14-1, which is a good score, but imagine, what i could have achieved, if i did not have TOchiazuma on 8.
