I thik this is it (Clapping wildly...) Asashoryu will need alot of help to win the Yusho now. It looks bleak. I am in shock. Something great is about to come to an end :(

P.S. If Asa can't come back then I'm pulling for Tokitsuumi!

Riki winning against Azuma is not possible, so Asa is probably out of the race.

But Jesinofuji-san ... won't you support the "white phoenix" whose name you praise in you signature?

did the yesterday's bout change you feeling over him?

I'm still a Hakuho fan, but after yesterday's bout, I just don't know if I can root for him this basho or not. The worst thing that could happen would be a Tochiazuma yusho. I'd rather see someone new get it. Asashoryu WILL beat Azuma on senshuraku, so we could see a nice playoff.

It's been over 2 years since zuma had a yusho. I think that qualifies him as 'someone new'. (Clapping wildly...)

To me, when an Ozeki wins a yusho, its all about the Yokozuna run that follows. If I thought Azuma had a serious chance of making Yokozuna then I'd be cool with it, but I just don't see him making it. I'd rather see someone who hasen't won a yusho yet take the emperor's cup.

Well, a Yokozuna run is not exactly something boring to follow.... regardless of the chances we may think he has before the next basho. Also, if he manages to pull of the yusho with just one loss, then I suppose even a 12-3 runner-up score MAY be considered as a possible promotion target.

And besides that - Asashoryu simply didn't put up the sumo that has won him all his yushos. I think it would be a shame if he could still pull this one off, simply because the competition wasn't able to keep up their own sumo. Better to have Asa lose now and come back with better sumo than to see him content with his meager training and come back unprepared in May.

I have mixed feelings, one my boy (he has been my boy for nearly 6 years) Asashoryu had 2 shockers and has all but blown the yusho.

Thats the bad, the good is my other boy Ama is on the rise.

I feel like I my team just drew in the final of a major sporting event

Do you know something we don't?

barring injury hakuho is a lock for an ozeki spot i think by natsu

I do not remember well, but i think a lot of guys predicted, that Hakuho will be Yokuzuna in 2005.

Becoming Ozeki is very difficult and whenever you do not perform at your best for one basho, you can start from the beginning.

So wait and see what is happening
