Ticking off names here, Ama seems to be getting pretty close to a Yokozuna match-up in the next few days. Going by straight ranking, they'll schedule Hakurozan, Iwakiyama and Kasuganishiki for Asashoryu ( before going back to the jo-ii ). Those below but with better records include Ama, Kakizoe and especially Hokutoriki.

Ama is first on the ranks list after Kasuganishiki and is 5-3 going into tonight. What do the Seers say about another Ama-Asa matchup? Not too much to hope for?

My eyes aren't what they used to be, but I would think that with Kaio and Taikai gone, there is a high probability of an Ama-Asa match. (Clapping wildly...)

Strictly by rank, which is what they usually use to determine the Yokozuna's opponents, it ought to be like this:

Day 9: Hakurozan

Day 10-11: Iwakiyama/Kasuganishiki

Day 12: Hakuho

Day 13: Kotomitsuki

Day 14: Kotooshu

Day 15: Tochiazuma

I don't see any compelling reason to deviate from that at the moment, so I'd consider a bout against Ama to be a longshot...

Was expecting Hakurozan to be skipped. Forgot that they were already matched up for tonight. B-) :-) Let's make that a low probability.

You've got your wish now. :-) Shoryu-Ama scheduled for day 13.

Wha! That rocks. Now how could Ama Yusho...

Now I'll try to find where you learned this. I thought they only scheduled two days at the beginning.

Ah, that's 9pm here, no wonder I hadn't have noticed. I never thought the timing through I guess.

How long does it take them to post for Senshuraku? Not long after 6pm I'd imagine?

The shenshuraku torikumi is announced at the first half break of day 14. So that would be around 5pm Japan time.

Practically speaking though, they are still working off of the day 13 results, and the day 14 results do not affect it.

asa gets a gimmie to recover from this loss today. Meanwhile the other contenders will have their hands full.

The way he was holding his arm today, and that bit we heard yesterday about his holding his arm yesterday as well, may not be a good sign for Asa. I'm not sure that gimmie will be given.

well ... if his arm is good though it looks like he has an easy match tomorrow.

He will just have to wait for others to screw up (mainly Azuma).
