Kaiowaka Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Someone has news about Kaio? Many thanks! Edited January 4, 2006 by Kaiowaka
Senpai Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 More training news from yesterdays session in Mihogaseki stable. Tochiazuma was powerful and made 15 bouts or so nobody didn't even had a chance. Hakurozan made only one bout after what he stopped because of the hip problems. Satoyama didn't looked good. As for other news than Chiotaikai has injured his eye and looks like pirate at the moment, should be ok for basho .. I think :-) Baruto felt better today and made 21 bouts with Satoyama and Kurazono with a result of 21-0 to Bart. Around 10 bouts with each. And there might be one surprise for Hatsu .. can't say more at the moment .. rumours rumors.
Kotononami Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Someone has news about the rikishi kyujo during the Kyushu basho? Wakanosato , Takanowaka and Shimotori ? No news , good news??? Thanks
Kintamayama Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Kaiou has finally started training with Sekitori today. He went to Azumazeki beya for degeiko, where he had some 20 bouts against Takamisakari and others. He was seen doing some hearty uwatenages in some match-ups, but looking weak and on the defensive in others. He seemed to be happy to be able to do any sumo at all. "This is my situation before the basho, but it's better than not being able to do anything..", he said, relieved. Last year, he had a lot of injuries and was kyujo from three bashos. "I'm aiming to participate in all the bashos this year. I still want to gambarize!!", he declared, all smiles. Edited January 4, 2006 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) More on KaioU- he was 18-2 in his bouts. This second report seems to have a different view from the previous-it says he was overpowering and looked good. So wherein lies the truth?? U with Ushiomaru today: Edited January 4, 2006 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Osh had 36 consecutive bouts in training today, for a whole hour. 27-9. Very intense keiko was decided upon by Osh with Sadogatake Oyakata beforehand. "I'm not really counting the win/loss thing, but I hate to lose. I am rested and my fatigue has disappeared", he said. Until he became Ozeki, he used to do 20-30 training bouts. Now, the norm is 30 and upwards, as Sadogatake Oyakata wants to increase Osh's stamina. "If he does enough keiko, he will be able to beat the Yokozuna, " said Sadogatake. They intend to slow the pace down from tomorrow though and arrive at the beginning of the basho in peak condition. "There is no pressure. I am eagerly looking forward to day 1!!", said Kotooushuu the new Bulgarian Ozeki. Kintamayama Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Ozeki Tochiazuma went for degeiko at Kasugano- the Dewanoumi Ichimon rengo keiko. He trained with Hakuhou, Tamanoshima and others-18 bouts, no results. "My situation is what you saw..", he said shortly. He was looking good. Hakuhou had 21 bouts at the same session and was looking good. No taping on the injured ankle or any sort of bandage. "No more taping, so I guess I'm in better shape now..", he said. Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 Asashouryuu has his traditional cold. He did not partake in the morning keiko, and was not seen at the tsuna-uchi ceremony as well. "There is nothing to explain", said a tsukebito on his behalf. He has that Meiji Jingu dohyo-iri this afternoon, so a public appearance is pending. BTW, he will be showing off his new kesho given to him by his fortune telling eccentric woman friend.
Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) The dohyo iri went well-approximately 3000 spectators. He has a slight cold, but his dohyo-iri was "strong". "I've started off the new year, huh? This feeling of a new year has me feeling intense. My yusho run? I intend to continue it. Kotooushuu? I'd like to test this up and comer's strength.. I was cold, being naked and all, but in my heart I am burning hot!!", he said, smiling. Edited January 5, 2006 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) "I don't want to lose to anyone this basho. Renshou? It's not a word to be used lightly..", added Asashouryuu, avoiding a direct commitment. He was philosophical: "When I entered the gates of Meiji Shrine today, a breeze swept across my face. It felt good", he said. This was the third time he did the Meiji Jinguu Dohyo-iri, and the first time that he did it without following some scandal. In 2004, it was immediately after he was absent from an important funeral without permission, and last year it was right after he didn't show up for the YDC souken. Doitsuyama Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 BTW, he will be showing off his new kesho given to him by his fortune telling eccentric woman friend. Looks like this was some false information from the papers.

Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 BTW, he will be showing off his new kesho given to him by his fortune telling eccentric woman friend. Looks like this was some false information from the papers. Asashouryuu decided at the last minute not to use the new kesho today. "I still need to 'get used to it' a bit", he explained. He intends to use it during the basho, though. The fortune teller did say that Asa will be breaking Futabayama's 69 consecutive record as well.
Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) Kotooushuu has come down with a cold. He was feeling sick and had only 12 bouts today, asking his shisho to be excused because of his illness. After keiko, he went to a nearby hospital for intravenous medical attention. "He has no fever, but he has a stomach and digestive disorder. A real bother", explained Sadogatake Oyakata. The same thing happened to him right before last year's Hatsu basho too. Then, he participated in the rikishi-kai and needlessly made things worse. He tried to be careful this time, but the unusually cold weather got the better of him, it seems. Asashosakari Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 The fortune teller did say that Asa will be breaking Futabayama's 69 consecutive record as well. To head off a potential comment by Peterao: Was she talking about bouts or yusho? (I am not worthy...)

Petr Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 He has shown the mawashi in one program. Actually, it's not one but three of them. When they are next to each other, you can see Mt. Fuji 'drawn' across them. (the centre of the mountain is in the centre piece and the left and right side show symetrically the rest.) It's supposed to be made from platinum and silver and whatever - so probably pretty expensive. If I remember well, it was quite reddish. There were several sportsmen in the program and all of them take advices from this fortune telling lady. She tells them what they should do on a daily basis. What sort of prayers etc. Only one of these sportsman (kickboxer?) didn't seem to take her advices seriously enough. So, Asa told him that he better did properly what she adviced him. She said that we would see whether the kickboxer followed her advices at his next tournament. If he wins, it obviously follows. If he loses, he obviously does not. As simple as that. One moderator laughed, so she told him that he would have a traffic accident on the way home. The other day, this lady has come to mentally support one of her boys in the 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' program. There was a lot of fuss about her. They prepared a special seat for her, not the ordinary one like for other supporters. She was expensively dressed up. She assured everyone that her boy will do well. Her boy lost at the second question because he didn't know which day is 'the day before yesterday of Thursday'. (木曜日のおとといは何曜日ですか。)He thought it was Sunday. (Appearently because there was no option of Saturday.) She scolded him with her trademark BAKA! which she uses anytime she's wrong. He returned with 0 yen. She is supposed to be very rich since even major decision makers reportedly come to ask her for advices. My friend has recently had to change her name because her father, who is a head of a major Japanese bank, was told by some fortunetelling lady that she'd better do so... (I am not worthy...)
AsaMoe Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I may look unworthy, but did she offer any quotes on the 69 record ?
