madorosumaru Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 11/16/05 Day 4. Tochiazuma-zeki Kyujo. Good evening. This is Tooyama. This is Day 4 of the Kyshu Basho. Regrettably, Tochiazuma-zeki had to go kyujo starting from today. There was a diagnosis of muscle strain to the side that requires four weeks to heal. Tochiazuma-zeki, who had plenty of injuries last year, had a goal of
madorosumaru Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 11/17/05 Day 5 Good evening! This is Tooyama. Kyushu Basho Day 5. Both makushita Shibuya and Yoshiazuma-san won today for the second time. The record for the heya was 4 wins, 4 losses. I have a bout tomorrow and I am going to kick butt! It has started to cool off suddenly in Kyushu last night, and it was so cold this morning that I didn
_the_mind_ Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 (edited) Having just read the last few days of entries.....i didnt realize Tooyama is Tochiazuma's tsukebito. perhaps i saw him in the Vegas then. as i saw Tochiazuma cash in some money at the Casino and give all his money to the guy with him and then scurried away, while the guy with him took Tochi's money and put it in a purse type of bag that he was carrying and followed many yard behind (Tochiazuma looked like he was rushing off somewhere). perhaps this was Tooyama with Tochi? Tochi's Obi on his kimono was beautiful and tied in a butterfly knot, while the dude with him only had his obi tied in a knot of some kind that was completely "un-pretty" compared to Tochi's. as such at the time i deduced that the other kimono bound man must have been in his heya and likely a lower ranked rikishi of some kind. (im pretty good with faces and did not recognize him as anyone in makauuchi) for those who know about this sort of thing, was this likely Tooyama that i saw? would "the keeper of an Ozeki's money" be something his tsukebite might have done on this sort of trip? did Tooyama go to Vegas at all? i was there during that time so i wasnt near a computer to have read the blog to know if he was or wasnt. any info would be nice. thank you very much Edited November 19, 2005 by _the_mind_

Isoazuma was the tsukebito that accompanied Tochiazuma to Las Vegas. He probably was the fellow that you saw doing chores for the ozeki. Tooyama stayed in Tokyo and wrote about that in the 10/7 entry of the blog. Isoazuma
madorosumaru Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 11/18/05 Day 6 Good evening! This is Tooyama. Day 6 Kyushu Basho. The picture above is a rear view of Takaazuma walking home after his bout today. Takaazuma lost today in a long bout of almost four minutes, so he feels a bit dejected . . . Takaazuma always brings bananas to his matches. But, for some reason, there are always four bananas. Ani-deshi:
Cammy Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I really like that picture... Takaazuma likes his bananas...leave him alone.

Tamanoi rikishi are earning kachi-koshi by the wagon-load. The photo above, taken last evening, shows Amanowaka, who had reached kachi-koshi and Shibuya, who has a kachi-koshi deciding bout today, ringing the temple bell. For another view of the above . . . "Everyday is a Wonderful Day" can be seen in the blog by the daughter of Dorinji

Kintamayama Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Ok, now if that isn't a spitting image of Tochiazuma.. Isn't it???
Cammy Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I don't know what is worse an 8 hour ferry ride or this------> at least no one is sitting next to him. I have done a 2-3 hour ferry ride before and it was pretty bad, but it is never fun being a fat guy in a small chair.

madorosumaru Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 It kinda looks like he has a black eye (Nodding yes...) I also hope that the seats are big enough for Shibuya so he won't complain (Whistling...) Several people commented about his appearance on the Tamanoi blog, but I didn't see any mention of a "black eye." I don't think poor Shibu got to go to Okinawa. Maybe, if he didn't complain so much ("I'm hungry," "Seat's too small," "Are we there yet?" etc.), his Big Brother (ani-deshi) will take him the next time. :-D
