Mark Buckton Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 went to have a look at asageiko today at Tamanoi, Brief round up: Takaazuma - 40 fights and won all bar 7 IITC - if he gets his left hand inside tis all over and even when he doesn't - if he can keep his opponent off his mawashi - all over. Still weak right ankle and both wrists too but back to makushita in Nov hopefully. (Eh?) Shibuya - bit out of his depth with 3 other makushita blokes. 30 fights - 10/20 I'd guess. Someone gets his mawashi he gives up. Keeps them off and similar height opponent - v. strong. Against taller blokes with longer reach - hmmmm. Also injured right leg - thigh this time. Heavy lad now. (Takaazuma and Shibuya did not fight each other) Fujiazuma - really really good today and if he is 178cm I am the pope. Still light but seemingly being 'groomed' Teruauma - tired and bad knee - permanent I think Yoshiazuma - looked pretty good but only against lower rankers - injuries all healed it appears - has grown a goatee and no tape except his toes - back up the makushita ranks?? (Dribbling...) Tochi - came in, stretched his neck, chatted to his dad and left to go somewhere for degeiko. Sakaigawa? Big chevvy type van thing was still gone when I left at 10am. :-( Hope he is there Friday - one of SFs most prominent of members will be visiting Japan and Tamanoi and want him to see the ozeki in action. (Eh?)
Gacktoh Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 How was Tououyama ex-Tashiro? If you understand Japanese, can you let us know what he writes in Tamanoi Weblog? ;-)
Mark Buckton Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Tashiro (real name) disn't do much on Mon and on Fri only poked his head in the door to ask some guys a question - is Tamanoi's lowest ranking sandanme man now but still main man status wise after Azuma and Yoshiazuma. Has been replaced as tsukibito too
madorosumaru Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Tochi - came in, stretched his neck, chatted to his dad and left to go somewhere for degeiko. Sakaigawa? Big chevvy type van thing was still gone when I left at 10am. Found this at Chunichi Sports: Tochiazuma went to Kasugano Beya for degeiko on the 5th. He said, "I twisted my [previously injured] ankle again on Saturday (9/3). Yesterday, I couldn't even do keiko with the "young guys." His shisho and dad, Tamanoi Oyakata, had given him the following directive: "You cannot go kyujo. You must take responsibility [for your position]." Azuma: "I'll just have to go down my own path. The ankle is still swollen so I'll [do whatever is necessary] to keep going."

Just his Dad and me in the viewing area - often the same.
