Doyobi Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 :-P oh no... it really hurts to watch that right anckle twisting. Who has any news about how serious the injury is? I hope the "little" guy is going to be allright.
Kintamayama Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I will bet my reputation that he's kyujo tomorrow..
Kintamayama Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 (edited) Ok-fractured bone in the right ankle-three months to heal-he's out. Hakkaku Oyakata has spoken. This brings us to a grand total of 10 Sekitori kyujos this basho! Edited July 23, 2005 by Kintamayama
Coo-cook Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Way too many injuries at this basho. Kaiho's falling was just awful to watch. It seems the offerings by Kyokai to Nagoya gods weren't enough this time....
Chiyozakura Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 There are already rumours that a woman touched the dohyo before shonichi...
sumofan Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 There are already rumours that a woman touched the dohyo before shonichi... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> whether this is true or not, people HAVE to find some reason with which they can explain it. that's human nature for you. chances are that a woman touches the dohyo every basho. as long as noone has to admit it, everyone can live with it. the way some rikishi throw the salt makes me doubt very much that they believe in the ritual, but you can't not throw the salt so you have to go through the motions.
Fukurou Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Ok-fractured bone in the right ankle-three months to heal-he's out. Hakkaku Oyakata has spoken. This brings us to a grand total of 10 Sekitori kyujos this basho! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Assuming he does miss Day 15 (I don't doubt Hakkaku Oyakata, it's just not on the NSK website yet), anyone want to lay a wager on who gets the free win? Putting him into double-digit wins - Futeno! (his second this tournament)
Jonosuke Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Assuming he does miss Day 15 (I don't doubt Hakkaku Oyakata, it's just not on the NSK website yet), anyone want to lay a wager on who gets the free win?Putting him into double-digit wins - Futeno! (his second this tournament) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From Futeno's blog Day 14 vs Wakanosato-zeki Oshidashi ---------------------------------------------------------- I heard everyone's cheers... Thank you, I got psyched up for today's bout just like always. Like yesterday, I stayed patient today. In a way I just went around to his back. I got through Wakanosato-zeki's pulldown and somehow managed to stay on offensive and was able to get the win. As Wakanosato-zeki was doing well, I myself was thinking. " I'd have to go as hard as I can" and did my best. Somehow I got to Day 14! And tomorrow is Kaiho-zeki but... I heard he got injured and I am like THIS......
madorosumaru Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 右腓骨(ひこつ)骨折、右足関節内側側副靱帯(じんたい)損傷で全治3カ月 Kaiho's injury includes a fractured right fibula and a torn interior ligament in his right ankle. It is expected to take 3 months to heal so he may very well be lost for the balance of the year.
aderechelsea Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 if we are talking about three months of healing it could only mean that he will be kyujo in Aki .... so only a small drop to Juryo. But if he misses Kyushu too then it would be mid-Makushita right? very tough to watch .... (I am not worthy...)
Asashosakari Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 if we are talking about three months of healing it could only mean that he will be kyujo in Aki .... so only a small drop to Juryo. But if he misses Kyushu too then it would be mid-Makushita right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, he wouldn't drop that far on the second kyujo. For comparison, Wakakirin dropped from J11e to Ms10e when he missed Haru basho. Kaiho should be in high Juryo in Kyushu if he misses Aki, so he'd be in very high Makushita with another kyujo. If he gets really lucky with the banzuke situation he could even stay in Juryo.
aderechelsea Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 that would be nice, but i would like his foot to heal really quick and really good so i can watch him compete again in Kyushu. my best wishes to him.
Manekineko Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I looked exactly like Futeno when I heard about Kaiho... (Depressed...) Of all the kyujo in this basho, his hit me the hardest. Iwakiyama sounded (Depressed...) too, not at all happy with the way he won his kk. (Depressed...) Good healing to kabuki-eyebrows, and hope to see him back in action soonish.
ilovesumo Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Three months to heal...a dream... (Being unsure...) When I injured my knee, I wasn't able just to walk for over 5 months. And for a heavy man (sounds stupid but he is in medical eyes) it will take a bit longer. Maybe he will have to give up (Depressed...) I think it's the right moment for a fan letter, to wish him お大事に (get well soon). (I am not worthy...) Iwakiyama must feel very bad because of it. He has a very big heart. (Being unsure...) What a painful Basho. (Shaking head...)
Doitsuyama Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 That's because your recovery method from operation is not the same as for professional athletes. They don't go three times a week to a therapist, they have therapy around the clock.
