Asashoryu just lost to Kokkai (by hatakikomi, I think). Now we have a yusho race as three wrestlers stand at 9-2 - Asashoryu, Kotooshu and Wakanosato. (Applauding...)

And Kaio and Tochiazuma are also very much in the running (if we ignore their various ailments...) at 8-3, since they have yet to meet Asashoryu.

Ehrm...

(Bleh!)

aren't you forgetting someone?

my main man Takamisakari (Applauding...) is still in the race (Applauding...)

you never know. if there will be playoffs, he might even grab the yusho (Laughing...) (Laughing...)

in my country we have a saying "you never know how a cow might catch a hare",

meaning that something can be very unlikely, but nevertheles possible.

Go Taka, Go Taka ...

Who was saying this was a boring basho? (Bleh!)

I'm rooting for two broken ozeki, myself. And Iwaki for kk!

No way! If somebody except yokozuna, then it will be Wakanosato... or Kotooshu

You mean, because Tochiazuma is injured ?

Yes, and plus because Popey and Gulliver have more wins than Tochiazuma and will fight with lower ranked rikishi.

Still, as long as Tochiazuma's injury doesn't bother him too much, he does have some of it in his own hands. He will meet Asashoryu, Wakanosato, Kokkai and Kaio, and if he does win those four matches (and I can't say I expect him to do it although I still hope, but uninjured he is at least a good enough sumotori to go through with it with a bit of luck) he will almost certainly at least be in a playoff position.

not if kotooshu wins his 4 remaining bouts. (Bleh!)

I am a careful poster. Note how I wrote "almost certainly" (Nodding yes...)

Well, Tochiazuma does have an outside shot at yushou, but not at promotion to yokozuna... you have to win two basho in a row for that, last I checked
