without seing a replay i guess if Shuzan kept his hand off the ground a bit more he could have got it ...

really close though and the mono-ii proves it.

He lost... I think it is more then enough about Shuzans Yusho aspirations.

Even Verenas prayers didn't help (Whistling...)

All the best for Her and Bataa :-P

How did he win the 10 bouts before? ;-) And at least one more (Eek...)

I think everything is planned by him, he's pretending. kk, mk, kk -good enough to stay as a Maegashira in the middle of Makuuchi Division, "weak" enough to be saved from bouts against the Yokozuna, Taikai and so on. The middle way is the best way not to retire tooo soon, the best way to handle everything without big problems. If he would really do his best, he could be at least Sekiwake, but you all know- that is a painful Banzuke position. :-P

A very intelligent guy. :-D

Wow, that was close! This time he really tried to pull out something. Congrats Shuzan! I am rooting for you. Do something on the next day too!

Yap, interesting point of view (Eek...) You,ve opend my eyes... it's simple - He just didn't want to win... :-P

Even with 10 wins he is guaranteed a spot above M4 where he will meet all the top guys, so it really doesnt make any difference how he does from today onwards.

His henka also shows that he WAS trying to win today.

I am absolutly agree - he was trying the best he can. The problem is that's not enough.

He lost because he literally didn't want to loose his face. :-S Hadn't he decided to land on hands, he would have won.

Yes.... I am missing Dale quite a bit myself. I do hope he has a fun trip though! :-(

Well, he is capable of upsetting anyone if he want to, while he knows where he belongs in the banzuke. So, his job is just keep going with style.

Now I'm curious: where is someone belonging on the banzuke who is capable of upsetting anyone if he wants to? Maegashira 8? So Asashoryu did it all wrong? Maybe You should write him a letter and tell him! ;-)

U know, wrestling is a well calculated battle. Asashoryu certainly knows where he belongs in the banzuke and this is why where he is now. Shuzan too, knows that he is not up to Kumisubi or higher. Shuzan is the one who prefers entertaining pleasant position over a do-or-die battle. It is obvious that he sometimes lack training and lose every bout with no resistance. But it is also obvious that he is working in his 50% capacity only, which draws many critics. I remember him winning Musashimaru and Asashoryu with ease. Most dangerious thing about him is his profound experience and talent, which are well compensated by his utter unwillingness to go for the yousho. He will perform badly next basho, because Sanyaku or yousho are not his goals. Besides, I heard that he is occupied with much more activities than sumo outside the dohyo. May be this is the reason.

I hope you will watch him closely.

That's what I say! (Applauding...)

But, I want him to show more of his talent. He is undervalued.

Sumo is "just a job" for him...sometimes I got angry because of some "easy loss(es)"

Now go for the 13. win!

(Boxing...)

I agree. Look what he said about this basho: "fun" ?...

Despite his dissapointing performance, he is widely respected in Mongolia for pioneering in Sumo, and bringing the winds of change into Sumo. He often revives long forgotten trips (which are, of course, just usual trips in mongolian brand of sumo).

There will be nothing to watch from him next basho. The elevator is set to go down.

An impressive performance this time but I would be shocked if he wins 5 matches next time. I think 2 would be a better guess. (Pulling hair...)
