paolo Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 If Kyokushuzan wins with Kotomitsuki tomorrow, can he win the basho ? As far as I can see he can no more be matched versus any of Asashoryu, Chiyotaikai, Tochiazuma, Hakuko because these rikishi's have to meet each other on the last three days. So what opponents will Kyokushuzan have who can stop him in this good shape condition ? How can the men who schedule the matches not see such a situation ?
QttP Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 (edited) kyokushuzan, can he win the basho? ;-) :-( (Whatever above, it is funny...) (Whatever above, it is funny...) (Whatever above, it is funny...) Kashunowaka Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Kyokushuzan won't win the yusho ... This is what I think will happen with regards to torikumi: He already has Kotomitsuki tomorrow. With the win today, they must give him another bout against a high-ranker on day 13. I think it will be Wakanosato. Should he lose tomorrow (day 12), he is not really a yusho threat anymore. Regardless, he will still get the best possible opponents from the meat-grinder for the rest of the basho. Miyabiyama looks like a good choice at this point. Even if Kyokushuzan wins against Kotomitsuki, I don't think they will break up the mini tournament between the top 4 on days 13-15. If they do, they could skip Hakuho-Tochiazuma on day 14 and do Tochiazuma-Kyokushuzan instead.

What's more, you are jumping the gun. Let us see him win against Kotomitsuki, then start to think about it.
Shimpu Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Kyokushuzan will not beat Kotomitsuki, he is too old and too weak. Yap, I think even Miyabiyama is able to crash him out of his lucky streak .... ;-) :-(
Coo-cook Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Kyokushuzan will not beat Kotomitsuki, he is too old and too weak I agree. Shuzan will not beat him, he might just tricks him.

Jakusotsu Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 By all means, keep it coming! This could develop into a nice banter between the tell-you-whats and the told-you-sos.
Sakana Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Win or not, Kyokushuzan's bout will be really interesting ! :-D Shoes has already done a great tournament, that's marvellous from an old rikishi (Whistling...)

Sumo needs fresh blood (Whistling...)
Bataa Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 (edited) I don't care about Kyokushuzans fans (Whistling...) is important when you're among the Community.Dude I just don't like old guys like him or Kotonowaka - they can't accept that time is ending for them... Lol what have u got against old people anyways?Age discrimination? What about ur Grandparents?Time is also ending for them. You mean they can't enjoy their fave sport becuz their old? I mean c'mon shuzan and kotonowaka aren't that old, only in their mid/late thirties, still in their prime Old for sumo would be someone like Taiho. Edited May 18, 2005 by Bataa
Kintamayama Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I object to this line of discussion!!! Ichinoya for President!
Shimpu Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Dude :-) I like this one. Hmm, I don't understand why you trying to get my grandparents involved (Shaking head...) Give up "dude" and don't get this post too serious... (Whistling...) Probably you like shuzan a lot, so good for you... I don't - thats all :-) I'm looking for your post tommorow (after shuzans lost) :-D

Same goes for "lol" and "cuz", although you didn't use them.

I don't - thats all I'm looking for your post tommorow (after shuzans lost) Ahem. First of all i'm not much of a shuzan fan neither im siding him becuz hes mongolian same as me. But your saying 'old rikishis cant accept time is ending for them' conflicted with my opinion,so i just expressed my opinion. I wasn't trying to involve ur grandparents here, i just took them as example. Anyways let's see what will happen tomorrow..but remember i never said shuzan WILL win.I said he will stand a chance. On the other hand u said Kotomitsuki WILL win right? cya tmrw then
Tagada Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Stats show that Kyokushuzan has beaten Kotomitsuki twice out of 11 bouts in the past. Two victories, two hatakikomi. So never say never. Kyokushuzan can beat Kotomitsuki even though it is much more probable that Kotomisuki wins. Both are in great shape and a new victory is not impossible at all. Kyokushuzan is one of my favourite rikishis and I can't beleave that I haven't chosen him more in my sumo games. (Whistling...) When you're able to win ten times in eleven bouts, I can't imagine you're too old for sumo. You win with your body but you also win with your head and I'm sure that Kyokushuzan is one of the more sly rikishis of the banzuke.
Yubiquitoyama Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 (edited) I don't care about Kyokushuzans fans :-P I just don't like old guys like him or Kotonowaka - they can't accept that time is ending for them... Sumo needs fresh blood (Eating...) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the problem is when the "fresh blood" simply doesn't win enough matches to get rid of those old geezers. In say hockey or football, this is a big issue since there can be loads of youngsters who really are much better than the old guys, but who don't get their chance because the coach trusts the old guard and goes by old merits. In sumo this is not the case. If the youngsters can't beat out guys like Kotokanyu or Daizen from the game, they are simply not ready yet. Go home and train boyz... (a flashy spelling I hope can be used once a post before immediate expulsion from the forum) ;-) The current Ozeki situation is a typical example of this... :-S Edited May 18, 2005 by Yubiquitoyama
Asashosakari Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 And hey, if you can't beat Daizen these days, you really don't deserve to be a sekitori. (Eating...)

genghis Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Shoes-on is a wrestlers who comes up with a clear plan for every bout. It might be the case that he won't do much this time because Tsuki looks in really good shape. I bet, everything depends on his mood. Remember the bout with Asa in May 2003 (I guess it was May). He was visibly humiliated by the younger fellow from Mongolia. Then he taught a lesson to the young yokozuna. He would probably play safe, unless he has something to really prove.
Jejima Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Will Shuzan be matched against Miyabiyama on day 14 or day 15? I remember a few basho ago when Takatoriki was matched up against Miyabiyama on day 15.... ;-)
