I thought it was standard practice for these kinds of rikishi-and-banzuke photos, for the rikishi to be pointing at their shikona....

Either this is an old photo ;-) or Katayama's hand has slipped.

Oh, I predict a bright future for the 'new recruit'. (You heard it hear first ;-) )

Jejima has retrieved the fan from Katayama, and has returned it to the rightful owner (Orimpikku Jijii)

 

edit: Yes, I know it is not the right way up, but it is a long complicated story as to why I can't change this at present...

can someone please tell me who that guy is and what he does? i see him in the same seat at nearly every basho in tokyo for the last many years of sumo that i have seen.

According to my wife, today's (4/26) Yomiuri had an article about Asa bemoaning the lack of keiko of his counterparts and claiming it will be readily apparent to all come Natsu who hasn't been doing sufficient keiko. Said he will be doing lots of degeiko in the next week, week and half....(article not yet up on Y's site that I could find)

thank you, i just read the link and i have a question, does anyone know what Olympic Ojisan does or did for a living? for him to be at all these sporting events around the world and at everyday of the basho all the time in the best seats, he must be extremely well off.
